ಸೂರ್ಯ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಸುತ್ತ ಸುತ್ತುತ್ತಾನಾ ಬಿಶಪ್?

ಜೆರುಸಲೇಂ ಅನ್ನು ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರು ಕರೆಯುವುದೇ ಹಾಗೆ. ಅವರ ಆರಾಧ್ಯದೈವ ಜೀಸಸ್ ಜನಿಸಿದ್ದು ಜೆರುಸಲೇಂ ಬಳಿಯ ಬೆತ್ಲಹೇಮ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ. ಬಾಲ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕಳೆದಿದ್ದು ಜೆರುಸಲೇಂನಲ್ಲಿ. ಜೀಸಸ್‌ನನ್ನು ಶಿಲುಬೆಗೆ ಏರಿಸಿದ ಕ್ಯಾಲ್‌ವರಿ ಹಿಲ್ ಇರುವುದೂ ಜೇರುಸಲೇಂನಲ್ಲೇ. ಈ ಎಲ್ಲ ಕಾರಣ ಗಳಿಂದಾಗಿ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರಿಗೆ ಜೆರುಸಲೇಂಗಿಂತ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಸ್ಥಳ ಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇರೊಂದಿಲ್ಲ. ಇಂತಹ ಜೇರುಸಲೇಂ 1076ರಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರ ವಶವಾಯಿತು.
ಅದು ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರಿಗೂ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಸ್ಥಳ. ಪ್ರವಾದಿ ಮೊಹಮದ್ ಪೈಗಂಬರ್ ಜೆರುಸಲೇಂಗೆ ಆಗಮಿಸಿದ್ದರು, ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಬಂಡೆಯೊಂದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕುಳಿತು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸಿದ್ದರು ಎಂಬ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರಲ್ಲೂ ಇದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲೊಂದು ಭವ್ಯ ಮಸೀದಿಯನ್ನೂ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಜೆರುಸಲೇಂ ಅನ್ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು ಸಹಜವಾಗಿಯೇ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರಿಗೆ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ ವಿಷಯವಾಯಿತು. ಆದರೆ ಜೆರುಸಲೇಂ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರ ವಶವಾದ ನಂತರ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರು ತಮ್ಮ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಸ್ಥಳವಾದ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಯಾತ್ರೆ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಭಾರೀ ಅಡಚಣೆಯುಂಟಾಯಿತು. ಇದು ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರನ್ನು ಕುಪಿತ ಗೊಳಿಸಿತು.
ಆಗಿನ ಪೋಪ್ ಎರಡನೇ ಅರ್ಬನ್ ಸ್ವತಃ ಯುದ್ಧ ಕಹಳೆಯೂದಿದರು. 1095ರಲ್ಲಿ ಫ್ರಾನ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರನ್ನುದ್ದೇಶಿಸಿ ಭಾಷಣ ಮಾಡಿದ ಪೋಪ್ ಅರ್ಬನ್, “ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರನ್ನು ಬಡಿದಟ್ಟಿ ಜೆರುಸಲೇಮನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆನ್ನುವ ನೈಜ ಕ್ರಿಶ್ಚಿಯನ್ನರಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕೆಲವರು ಪಾಪ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು, ಅವರು ಧರ್ಮಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಂದಾದರೆ ದೇವರು ಅಂತಹವರನ್ನು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸಬಹುದು. ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ಹೋರಾಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಡಿದರೆ ಅವರು ದೇವರಿಗಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಾಣತ್ಯಾಗ ಮಾಡಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ನೇರವಾಗಿ ಸ್ವರ್ಗಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಾರೆ. ತನಗಾಗಿ ಮಡಿದವರ ಎಲ್ಲ ಪಾಪಗಳನ್ನೂ ಭಗವಂತ ಮನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಯಾರೂ ಹಿಂಜರಿಯಬಾರದು. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಮುನ್ನಡೆಯಬೇಕು. God wills it!”
ಇಂತಹ ಪೋಪ್ ಕರೆ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರನ್ನು ಹುರಿದುಂಬಿಸಿತು. ಹೀಗೆ 1096ರಲ್ಲಿ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಿದ್ದೇ ಮೊದಲ ಧರ್ಮಯುದ್ಧ (ಕ್ರುಸೇಡ್). 1099ರಲ್ಲಿ ಜೇರುಸಲೇಮ್ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರ ಪಾಲಾಯಿತು. ಆದರೆ ಕ್ರುಸೇಡ್ ನಿಲ್ಲಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಬರೀ ಜೆರುಸಲೇಂ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಪಶ್ಚಿಮ ಏಷ್ಯಾದಿಂದಲೇ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರನ್ನು ಹೊರದಬ್ಬಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಹೋರಾಟ ಮುಂದು ವರಿಯಿತು. ಕಾಲಾಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಸ್ಲಾಂ ಯುರೋಪ್‌ಗೆ ಹರಡುವುದನ್ನು ತಡೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಸುಮಾರು 200 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ, ಅಂದರೆ 1096 ರಿಂದ 1270ರವರೆಗೂ 8 ಕ್ರುಸೇಡ್‌ಗಳು ನಡೆ ದವು. ಇಂತಹ ಧರ್ಮಯುದ್ಧಗಳಿಗೆ ಕ್ಯಾಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತ ಗುರುಗಳೇ ಕರೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದರು.
‘ಧರ್ಮೋ ರಕ್ಷತಿ ರಕ್ಷಿತಃ’ ಎಂದು ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿಂದೂ ಧರ್ಮ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿರುವುದೂ ಇದನ್ನೇ ಅಲ್ಲವೆ?
ಮುಂದೆ ಹದಿನೈದನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರು ಹೊಸ ತಕರಾರು ಎತ್ತಿದರು. ಆಧುನಿಕ ಖಗೋಳಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ಸಂಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ನಾದ ಪೊಲೆಂಡ್‌ನ ನಿಕೋಲಸ್ ಕೋಪರ್‌ನಿಕಸ್ “On the Revolutions of the Heavenly Bodies” ಎಂಬ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೌರಮಂಡಲದ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸೂರ್ಯನೇ ಹೊರತು ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲ ಎಂದ. ಅದನ್ನು “Heliocentric System” ಎಂದು ಕರೆದ. ಭೂಮಿಯೂ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಗ್ರಹ. ಸೂರ್ಯನಿಂದ ಮೂರನೇ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಭೂಮಿಯ ಕಕ್ಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚಂದ್ರನಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ನಕ್ಷತ್ರಗಳು ಬಲು ದೂರ ಇದ್ದು, ಅವು ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಸುತ್ತ ಸುತ್ತುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಭೂಮಿವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೊಮ್ಮೆ ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಸುತ್ತ ಸುತ್ತುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ವಾದಿಸಿದ. ೧೫೪೩ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೋಪರ್‌ನಿಕಸ್‌ನೇನೋ ಮರಣವನ್ನಪ್ಪಿದ. ಆದರೆ ಅವನ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ ಆತ ಸತ್ತ ನಂತರ ಭಾರೀ ವಿವಾದಕ್ಕೆ ದಾರಿ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿತು. ಆತನ ನಂತರ ಬಂದ ಇಟಲಿಯ ವಿeನಿಗಳಾದ ಗಿಯೋರ್ಡಿನೋ ಬ್ರೂನೋ ಹಾಗೂ ಗೆಲಿಲಿಯೋ ಕೂಡ ಕೋಪರ್‌ನಿಕಸ್‌ನ ವಾದ ಸರಣಿಯನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿದರು. “ಸೌರಮಂಡಲದ ಕೇಂದ್ರಬಿಂದು ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲ. ಸೂರ್ಯ ಭುವನದ ಕೇಂದ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಿರವಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಭೂಮಿ ಸೂರ್ಯನ ಸುತ್ತ ಸುತ್ತುತ್ತದೆ” ಎಂದ ಗೆಲಿಲಿಯೋ Heliocentrism ಅನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಥನೆ ಮಾಡಿದ. ಇದರಿಂದ ಚರ್ಚ್ ಎಷ್ಟು ಕುಪಿತಗೊಂಡಿತೆಂದರೆ ಆಗಿನ ಪೋಪ್ ಎಂಟನೇ ಅರ್ಬನ್, “ಸೂರ್ಯನೇ ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಮತ್ತು ಅದು ಚಲನಶೀಲವಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ Heliocentrism ಒಂದು ಪೊಳ್ಳು, ತಾತ್ವಿಕವಾದ ಸುಳ್ಳು. ಅದು ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿ ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತಕ್ಕೆ ತದ್ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾದುದು” ಎಂದು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕವಾಗಿ ಗೆಲಿಲಿಯೋ ಮತ್ತು ಬ್ರೂನೋನನ್ನು ಖಂಡನೆ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಇವರಿಬ್ಬರ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿರ್ಬಂಧವನ್ನೂ ಹೇರಿದರು. ಗೆಲಿಲಿಯೋನನ್ನು ಜೈಲಿಗೂ ತಳ್ಳಲಾಯಿತು, ಸಾಯುವವರೆಗೂ ಗೃಹ ಬಂಧನದಲ್ಲಿರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. 1642ರಲ್ಲಿ ಗೆಲಿಲಿಯೋ ಮರಣವನ್ನಪ್ಪಿದಾಗ ಆತನನ್ನು ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರ ರುದ್ರಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂತ್ಯಸಂಸ್ಕಾರ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಬಿಡಲಿಲ್ಲ ಪೋಪ್. ಇನ್ನು ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶವೆಂಬುದು Finite ಅಲ್ಲ, Infinite. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಕೊನೆಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ವಾದಿಸುವ ಧೈರ್ಯ ತೋರಿದ ಬ್ರೂನೋನನ್ನಂತೂ, ೧೫೯೨ರಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂಧಿಸಿ ರೋಮನ್ ಕ್ಯಾಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಚರ್ಚ್‌ನ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಲಯದ(The Inquisition) ಮುಂದೆ 7 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ಗೊಳಪಡಿಸಿ, ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಉರಿವ ಜ್ವಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಡುವ ಮರಣದಂಡನೆಯನ್ನು ವಿಧಿಸಿದರು.
ಅಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೂ ಇವರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಮಾಡಿದ ತಪ್ಪೇನು ಗೊತ್ತೆ?
“ದೇವರು ಮೊದಲು ಸ್ವರ್ಗವನ್ನು, ನಂತರ ಜಗತ್ತನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದ. ಆತ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ಅಚಲವಾಗಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಅದು ಚಲಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಸೂರ್ಯ ಹುಟ್ಟುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಮುಳುಗುತ್ತಾನೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಮೂಲಸ್ಥಾನಕ್ಕೆ ತೆರಳುತ್ತಾನೆ” ಎನ್ನುತ್ತದೆ ಬೈಬಲ್. ಆದರೆ ಕೋಪರ್‌ನಿಕಸ್, ಗೆಲಿಲಿಯೋ, ಬ್ರೂನೋ ಮಾಡಿದ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಗಳು ಇಂತಹ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ವೈeನಿಕವಾಗಿ ಸುಳ್ಳು ಎಂದು ಸಾಬೀತುಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಪೋಪ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಪಾದ್ರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರು ಅದುವರೆಗೂ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡು, ನಂಬಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿದ್ದೆಲ್ಲ ಬೊಗಳೆ ಎಂದು ಸಾಬೀತಾದರೆ ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರುತ್ತಾರೆಯೇ? ಗೇಲಿಲಿಯೋನನ್ನು ಜೀವನಪರ್ಯಂತ ಗೃಹಬಂಧನದಲ್ಲಿ ಟ್ಟರು, ಬ್ರೂನೋನನ್ನು ಪೈಶಾಚಿಕವಾಗಿ ಕೊಲೆಗೈದರು.
ಇನ್ನು 150 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತು ವರ್ಷ ಪರಿ ಶ್ರಮ ಪಟ್ಟು, ಐದು ವರ್ಷ ಜಗತ್ತನ್ನು ಸುತ್ತಿ ಚಾರ್ಲ್ಸ್ ಡಾರ್ವಿನ್ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸಿದ “Evolution Theory” ಅನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಿ. ಹದಿನೆಂಟನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ The Origin of Species ಎಂಬ ಪುಸ್ತಕವನ್ನು ಹೊರತಂದ ಡಾರ್ವಿನ್, 3.9 ಶತಕೋಟಿ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಗಿಬ್ಬನ್ಸ್ ಎಂಬ ವಂಶದಿಂದ ಜೀವನ ಸಂಕುಲಗಳು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯಾದವು. ಗಿಬ್ಬನ್ಸ್ ನಿಂದ ಒರಾಂಗುಟಾನ್ ಬಂತು. ಅದರಿಂದ ಗೊರಿಲ್ಲಾ, ಚಿಂಪಾಂಜಿ ಬಂದವು, ನಂತರ ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಬಂದ” ಎಂದು ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸಿದ. ಇಂತಹ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದನೆಯನ್ನು ಪುಷ್ಟಿಕರಿಸು ವಂತೆ ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಲಕ್ಷಾಂತರ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಪಳೆಯುಳಿಕೆಗಳು ಸಿಗುತ್ತಿವೆ, ಡಾರ್ವಿನ್ನನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ನಿಜವಾಗಿಸುತ್ತಿವೆ. ಆದರೆ ಡಾರ್ವಿನ್ನನ “Evolution Theory”, “10 ಸಾವಿರ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ದೇವರು ಕೇವಲ ೬ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜಗತ್ತು ಮತ್ತು ಜೀವಸಂಕುಲಗಳನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದ” ಎನ್ನುವ ಬೈಬಲ್‌ನ “Creationism” ಪೊಳ್ಳು ಎಂದು ಸಾಬೀತು ಮಾಡಿತು. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಚರ್ಚ್ಗಳು ಡಾರ್ವಿನ್‌ನ ಖಂಡನೆ ಗಿಳಿದವು. ಆದರೆ ಇದೇ ರೀತಿ ದೂಷಣೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಾಲ ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ಬಚ್ಚಿಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಅರಿತುಕೊಂಡ ಚರ್ಚ್, “Intelligent Design” ಎಂಬ ವಾದ ಸರಣಿಯನ್ನು ಮುಂದಿಟ್ಟಿತು. ಹೌದು, ವಿeನಿಗಳು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿರುವಂತೆ ಭೂಮಿ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಶತಕೋಟಿ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿರಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಜೀವಸಂಕುಲ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು 10 ಸಾವಿರ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಎಂದು ತನ್ನ ಥಿಯರಿಯನ್ನೇ ತಿರುಚಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿತು. ಆದರೆ ಆಗ್ಗಿಂದಾಗ್ಗೆ ಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವ ಕೋಟ್ಯಂತರ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಜೀವಿಸಿದ್ದ ಡೈನೋಸಾರ್‌ಗಳ ಪಳೆಯುಳಿಕೆಗಳು ಬೈಬಲ್‌ನ Creationism ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದನೆಯನ್ನೇ ಸುಳ್ಳಾಗಿ ಸುತ್ತಿವೆ! ಇಂದು ವೈeನಿಕ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಗಳಿಂದ ಭಾರೀ ಹೊಡೆತ ಬಿದ್ದಿರುವುದೆಂದರೆ ಕ್ಯಾಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಚರ್ಚ್‌ಗಳ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದನೆಗೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಯಾವ ವಿeನಿಗಳೂ ಬೈಬಲ್ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದನೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾರಾಸಗಟಾಗಿ ಒಪ್ಪುವುದಿಲ್ಲ.
ಮೊನ್ನೆ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಆರ್ಚ್ ಬಿಶಪ್ ಮೊರಾಸ್ ಅವರು, ‘ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನಗಳ ಗರ್ಭಗುಡಿಯನ್ನು ನಾಶಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದರೆ ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರುತ್ತಿದ್ದಿರಾ?’ಎಂದು ಮುಖ್ಯ ಮಂತ್ರಿ ಯಡಿಯೂರಪ್ಪನವರನ್ನು ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಿದ್ದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ದಾಗ, ‘ನಮಗೆ ಬಹಳ ನೋವಾಗಿದೆ’ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಲೇ ಒಂದು ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಗೆ ಅಗೌರವ ತೋರಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಕಂಡಾಗ, ‘ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರೆಂದರೆ ಜೀಸಸ್‌ನಷ್ಟೇ ದಯಾಮಯಿಗಳು, ಶಾಂತಿಪ್ರಿಯರು’ ಎಂಬಂತೆ ಪೋಸು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಗಮನಿಸಿದಾಗ ಬಿಶಪ್ ಮತ್ತು ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರಿಗೆ ನಾವೂ ಕೆಲವು ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳುವುದು ಉಚಿತ ಎನಿಸಿತು.
ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರೂ ಉತ್ತರಿಸಲಿ ನೋಡೋಣ?
ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕ್ಯಾಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಚರ್ಚ್ಗಳು ಮತಾಂತರ ಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಹಿಂದೂಗಳು ಬಾಯಿಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಕುಳಿತಿರಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬಯಸುವ ಬಿಶಪ್ ಅವರೇ, 11ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರು ಕ್ರುಸೇಡ್ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದ್ದೇಕೆ? ಅಂದು ಶಾಂತಿ, ಸಾಮರಸ್ಯ ಬೋಧನೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಧರ್ಮಗುರು ಪೋಪ್ ಅರ್ಬನ್, ಯುದ್ಧ ಕಹಳೆಯೂದಿದ್ದು ಯಾವ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ? ನಿಮ್ಮ ಧರ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪಾಯ ಎದುರಾದಾಗ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರನ್ನು ಮಟ್ಟ ಹಾಕುವ ಹಕ್ಕು ನಿಮಗಿದೆ ಎಂದಾದರೇ ನಿಮ್ಮಿಂದ ಅವಹೇಳನ, ಅಪಾಯಕ್ಕೊಳಗಾದಾಗ ಪ್ರತಿರೋಧವೊಡ್ಡುವ ಹಕ್ಕು ಹಿಂದೂಗಳಿಗಿಲ್ಲವೆ? ಊರ್ವಶಿಯನ್ನು ಸೂಳೆ ಎಂದರೂ ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬಯಸುತ್ತೀರಲ್ಲಾ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಧರ್ಮ ಗುರು ಪೋಪ್ ಎಂಟನೇ ಅರ್ಬನ್ ಬ್ರೂನೋಗೆ ಚಿತ್ರಹಿಂಸೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಕೊಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ್ದೇಕೆ? ಗೆಲಿಲಿಯೋನನ್ನು ಗೃಹಬಂಧನ ದಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇಕೆ? ಡಾರ್ವಿನ್‌ನನ್ನು ದೂಷಿಸಿದ್ದೇಕೆ? ವೈeನಿಕ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಗಳನ್ನೇ ಹೊಸಕಿ ಹಾಕಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಿರಲ್ಲಾ, ನಿಮ್ಮದೆಂಥ ಪ್ರಗತಿಪರ ಧರ್ಮ? ಅದಿರಲಿ, ಹಿಂದೂ ಧರ್ಮವೆಂದರೆ ಬಹುದೇವತಾರಾಧನೆ, ಮೂರ್ತಿಪೂಜೆ, ಮೂಢನಂಬಿಕೆ ಎಂದು ಜರಿಯುತ್ತೀರಲ್ಲಾ, ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಬೈಬಲ್ ಹೇಳುವಂತೆ ಸೂರ್ಯ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಸುತ್ತ ಸುತುತ್ತಾನಾ ಬಿಶಪ್? ಬೆನ್ನಿಹಿನ್ ತನ್ನ ಮಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ರೋಗಗಳನ್ನು ಗುಣಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಮೋಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಮೌಢ್ಯದ ಮಾರಾಟವಲ್ಲವೆ? ಮೋನಿಕಾ ಬೆಸ್ರಾಳ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಗಡ್ಡೆಯನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಮಾಂತ್ರಿಕ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಕರಗಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ಕಥೆ ಕಟ್ಟಿ ಮದರ್ ಥೆರೇಸಾ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸಂತಪದವಿಗೇರಿಸಲು ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಿಸಿದ್ದು ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರ ಮೌಢ್ಯವಲ್ಲದೆ ಮತ್ತೇನು? ಇನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ “Creationism” ಹೇಳುವಂತೆ ಜೀವಸಂಕುಲ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು ಕೇವಲ 10 ಸಾವಿರ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆಯೇ? ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಅವೈe ನಿಕ ಎಂಬ ಕಾರಣ ನೀಡಿ ಅಮೆರಿಕ 1987ರಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮ್ಮ “Creationism” ಥಿಯರಿಯನ್ನು ಪಠ್ಯದಿಂದ ತೆಗೆದು ಹಾಕಿದ್ದೇಕೆ? ಅಮೆರಿಕದ ಸುಪ್ರೀಂ ಕೋರ್ಟೇ ನಿಮ್ಮ “Creation science” ಅನ್ನು ಶಾಲಾ-ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬೋಧನೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ತಡೆಹಾಕಿತು ಎಂದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದನೆ ಅದೆಷ್ಟು ಸುಳ್ಳುಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ್ದಿರಬಹುದು? ಹಿಂದೂ ಧರ್ಮೀಯರು ವಿಗ್ರಹ ಆರಾಧಕರು ಎನ್ನುತ್ತೀರಲ್ಲಾ, ನೀವೇಕೆ ಜೀಸಸ್, ಮೇರಿಯ ಸಿಮೆಂಟ್ ಮೂರ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾಪಿಸುತ್ತೀರಿ? ಏಸುವನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸಿದರೆ ರೋಗ ಗುಣವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಮೋಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೀರಲ್ಲಾ, ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ, ಮೆಡಿಕಲ್ ಕಾಲೇಜುಗಳೇಕೆ ಬೇಕು? ಅಸ್ವಸ್ಥರಿಗೆ ಬರೀ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಹೇಳಬಹುದಲ್ಲವೆ? ಮೊದಲು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ, ನಂತರ ಔಷಧ ಕೊಡುವುದೇಕೆ? ಮತಾಂತರದಿಂದ ಮಾನವನ ಉದ್ಧಾರವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎನ್ನುವು ದಾದರೆ ಈ ‘ದಲಿತ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತ’ರು ಎಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಬಂದರು? ಅಂದರೆ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತ ಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿದರೂ ಬಡತನ ಹೋಗಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಕಳಂಕ ಕಳಚಲಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದಾಯಿತಲ್ಲವೆ? ಅಲ್ಲ, ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರಾದ ನೀವು ಯಾರನ್ನು ವಂಚಿಸಲು ಚರ್ಚ್‌ಗಳಿಗೆ ‘ದೇವಾಲಯ’ ‘ಮಂದಿರ’ ಅಂತ ಹೆಸರನ್ನಿಡುತ್ತೀರಿ? ನೀವು ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ಶಾಂತಿಪ್ರಿಯರು ಹಾಗೂ ಅನ್ಯಧರ್ಮ ಕ್ಕೆ ಗೌರವ ಕೊಡುವವರೇ ಆಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡಿನ ಚರ್ಚ್ಗಳು ಯೋಗದ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಷೇಧ ಹೇರಿರುವುದೇಕೆ? ಸ್ವಂತತೆಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ “ಕ್ರಿಶ್ಚಿಯನ್ ಯೋಗ” ಎಂದು ಕಾಪಿ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀರಲ್ಲಾ ಇದು ಸರಿಯೇ?
ಇನ್ನು ನೀವು ಹಿಂದೂಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗಳುವ ಪುನರ್ಜನ್ಮದ ವಿಷಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬರೋಣ. ಮನುಷ್ಯ ಪಾಪ ಮಾಡಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಅದು ಪರಿಹಾರವಾಗಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಜೀಸಸ್‌ನನ್ನು ಆರಾಧಿಸಬೇಕು ಎನ್ನುತ್ತೀರಿ. ಅಂದರೆ ಪಾಪ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ಯಾವಾಗ? ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ ಹುಟ್ಟುವಾಗಲೇ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ ಪಾಪ ಅಂಟಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವುದೇ ಆದರೆ, ಪಾಪ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾದರೂ ಯಾವಾಗ? ಹಿಂದಿನ ಜನ್ಮದಲ್ಲೇ ಆಗಿರಬೇಕಲ್ಲವೆ? ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ನೀವೂ ಪುನರ್ಜನ್ಮವನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತಲ್ಲವೆ? ಅದಿರಲಿ, ಹಿಂದೂಯಿಸಂ ಅನ್ನು ಭೂತಪ್ರೇತಗಳ ಧರ್ಮ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತೀರಲ್ಲಾ ಅಮೆರಿಕ, ಬ್ರಿಟನ್, ಐರ್‍ಲೆಂಡ್, ನ್ಯೂಜಿಲ್ಯಾಂಡ್, ಕೆನಡಾ ಹಾಗೂ ಉತ್ತರ ಅಮೆರಿಕದ ರೋಮನ್ ಕ್ಯಾಥೋಲಿಕ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಆಂಗ್ಲಿಕನ್ ಚರ್ಚ್ಗಳು ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ ೩೧ರಂದು ಆಚರಿಸುವ “Halloween Holiday” ಭೂತ, ಪ್ರೇತಗಳ, ಮಾಟ, ಮಾಯದ ಹಬ್ಬವೇ ಅಲ್ಲವೆ?! ಹಿಂದೂ ಧರ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಜಾತಿ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತೀರಲ್ಲಾ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರು ಸ್ವಧರ್ಮೀಯರೇ ಆಗಿರುವ ಆಫ್ರಿಕನ್ ಕರಿಯರನ್ನು ಯಾವ ರೀತಿ ನಡೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ? ಅದಿರಲಿ, ಗುಲಾಮಗಿರಿಯನ್ನು ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದ್ದು ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತ ಧರ್ಮೀಯರೇ ಅಲ್ಲವೆ? ಆಫ್ರಿಕನ್ ಅಮೆರಿಕನ್ ಕರಿಯರು ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತ ಧರ್ಮವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಇಸ್ಲಾಮನ್ನು ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದೇಕೆ? ೨೦೦೧, ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ ೧೧ರಂದು ಅಮೆರಿಕದ ಮೇಲೆ ಭಯೋತ್ಪಾದಕ ದಾಳಿ ನಡೆದ ನಂತರ “Crusade will continue” ಎಂದ ಜಾರ್ಜ್ ಬುಷ್ ಮಾತಿನ ಅರ್ಥವೇನು? ಕ್ರುಸೇಡ್ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಿದ್ದೇ ಇಸ್ಲಾಮ್‌ನ ಪ್ರಸರಣವನ್ನು ತಡೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ. ಅಫ್ಘಾನಿಸ್ತಾನ, ಇರಾಕ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಮುಂದಿನ ಗುರಿ ಇರಾನ್. ಹೀಗೆ ಒಂದೊಂದಾಗಿ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ದೇಶಗಳನ್ನೇ ನಾಶಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ನೀವು ಈಗಲೂ ಒಳಂಗಿದೊಳಗೆ ಇಸ್ಲಾಂ ವಿರುದ್ಧದ ಕ್ರುಸೇಡ್ ಮುಂದು ವರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದೀರಿ ಎಂದಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲವೆ?
ಅಣಕವೆಂದರೆ ‘ನ್ಯೂಲೈಫ್ ಚರ್ಚ್’ಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ನಡೆದ ದಾಳಿಯ ನಂತರ ದೇವೇಗೌಡರು ದಿಲ್ಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಿದ ಧರಣಿ ಹಾಗೂ ದಾವಣಗೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಕೋಮಸೌಹಾರ್ದ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾದ್ರಿಗಳ ಜತೆ ಮುಲ್ಲಾಗಳೂ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದರು, ಹಿಂದೂ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಘೋಷಣೆ ಕೂಗಿದರು! ಹೇಗಿದೆ ನೋಡಿ ಈ ಹೊಸ ಜೋಡಿ?! ಎಸ್.ಎಂ. ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಅವರು ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ 2000ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಆಂಧ್ರದ ಚರ್ಚ್‌ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸರಣಿ ಸ್ಫೋಟಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದವು. ಆಗ ಹಿಂದೂ ಸಂಘಟನೆಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅನುಮಾನ ವ್ಯಕ್ತವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದು ‘ದೀನ್‌ದಾರ್ ಅಂಜುಮಾನ್’ ಎಂಬ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ಸಂಘಟನೆ! ಇತಿಹಾಸದುದ್ದಕ್ಕೂ ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಕಚ್ಚಾಡು ತ್ತಲೇ ಬಂದಿರುವ ಇವರು ಹಿಂದೂಗಳಿಗೆ ಶಾಂತಿಪಾಠ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಡಲು ಮುಂದಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಕೃತ್ರಿಮತೆಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂದೂಗಳು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು. ಮತಾಂತರದ ವಿರುದ್ಧದ ಹೋರಾಟ ಮಾಡಿದರಷ್ಟೇ ಸಾಲದು, ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ಮರಳಿ ಮಾತೃಧರ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆತರುವ ಪ್ರಕ್ರಿ ಯೆಯೂ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಬೇಕು. ಜತೆಗೆ ದಲಿತರು, ಶೂದ್ರರು ಎಂದು ಮೂಗು ಮುರಿಯುವುದನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ನಾವೆಲ್ಲ ಒಂದೇ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಕೃತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೋರಬೇಕು.
ಇದೇನೇ ಇರಲಿ, ಕಟ್ಟಾ ನಾಸ್ತಿಕರಾದ ಚಾರ್ವಾಕರಿಗೂ ಸ್ಥಾನ ನೀಡಿದ, ಮಾನ್ಯ ಮಾಡಿದ ಧರ್ಮ ನಮ್ಮದು. ನಾವು ಧರ್ಮ-ಧರ್ಮಗಳ ನಡುವಿನ ಯುದ್ಧವಾದ ‘ಕ್ರುಸೇಡ್’ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದವರಿಂದ ಶಾಂತಿಪಾಠ ಕಲಿಯುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ. ಕ್ರೈಸ್ತರು ಹೇಳುವಂತೆ ನಾವು ಪಾಪದೊಂದಿಗೇ ಹುಟ್ಟಿ ದವರಲ್ಲ. ನಮ್ಮ ವೇದಗಳು ಹೇಳುವಂತೆ, ವಿವೇಕಾನಂದರು ಪುನರುಚ್ಛರಿಸಿದಂತೆ “We are children of immortal bliss. It’s greatest sin to call ourselves as sinners”. ಹೌದು, ನಾವು ಅಮೃತಾತ್ಮರು, ಪಾಪಿಗಳಲ್ಲ. ಮಾಡದ ಪಾಪವನ್ನು ತೊಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ನಾವೇನು ಮತಾಂತರಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಿಲ್ಲ!

I guess, I main reason that Christian missinaries, some leftists and Pseudosecularists (read CNN-IBN, NDTV, ToI, The Hindu staff) claim regarding conversion is the Caste system in Hinduism. Well, it now happens for money and other economic facilities, but the above mentioned people explicitly justify the conversion by pointing towards Caste System !!! (Karan Thapar’s “Who is the Real Hindu” article in The Hindu).
Well I feel most of us either dont know/have forgotten that Caste system explained in Rig Veda is completely different from what we perceive today (according to which even I am a ‘Shudra’ (btw I am a brahmin by birth) because my karma/duty is to work for a company doing a consumer product/work for higher authority and hence work for others !)
I guess, this is the feeling regarding caste system we have to incite into the Hindu people today. As for other reasons of conversion, I feel we need to start serving the society, a genuine effort as opposed to the one done by Christian missionaries (I would not generalise this to all missionaries).
@ Pratap Simha: Your article is really an Eye opener for many Hindus. I would also like to suggest you to describe more about the possible solutions and explain actual causes for some of the wrongly-thought bad customs in Hinduism (like the concept of Caste system which actually is based on duty/karma and not on birth; Sati system which was started during Mughal empire because of the harassment of women by Mughal rulers etc. etc.)

Its a superb article. just a simple logic. In hindu religion , it is said we have 3crore gods, where as in ‘christian or islam’ they believe only one god.
Just think now abt the administration . Even a District collector will be not able to manage a single district, he has several other officers, to support the adminstration. parallely ‘If we say there is only one god to save the whole world i.e ‘jesus or allah’ it has no logic. That is why in hindu religion we have almost 3 crore gods to administrate the whole world. I mean it .

The article is extremely good and you explained with the fact. Today the conversion is more political then the religion issue. Each political party thinks vote bank and support the community.
Instead of going back and we need think of future. The one of the reason for the conversion today is poverty and lack of facility.
Today even Hindu religion should provide education, medical help to poor people. This really helps to curb the conversion.
