ಸಾನಿಯಾ ನಿಖಾದಲ್ಲೂ ಹುಳುಕು ಹುಡುಕಬೇಕಾ?

ಅವಳಿಗೆ ಯಾರೂ ಭಾರತೀಯರು ಸಿಗಲಿಲ್ಲವೆ? ಆ ಪಾಕಿ ಸ್ತಾನಿಯೇ ಆಗಬೇಕಿತ್ತೆ? ಆಕೆಯೆಷ್ಟು ಧರ್ಮಾಂಧಳು ಎಂಬುದಕ್ಕೆ ಶೋಯೆಬ್ ಮಲಿಕ್‌ನನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಯಾಗು ತ್ತಿರುವುದೇ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಉದಾಹರಣೆಯಲ್ಲವೆ? ಇಂತಹ ತರ್ಕಗಳು ಒಂದೆಡೆಯಾದರೆ ಸಾನಿಯಾ ವಿವಾಹಕ್ಕೆ ತಮಿಳುನಾಡು-ಆಂಧ್ರಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಎಚ್‌ಪಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಇತರ ಬಲಪಂಥೀಯ ಸಂಘ ಟನೆಗಳ ವಿರೋಧ…, ಆಕೆಗೆ ಹೆಸರು, ಖ್ಯಾತಿ, ಕಾಸು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು ಭಾರತ, ಆದರೆ ವಿವಾಹವಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಭಾರತದ ಬದ್ಧವೈರಿ ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಎಂಬ ತಗಾದೆ, ತಕರಾರುಗಳು ಮತ್ತೊಂದೆಡೆ!

ಇದೇನು ತಮಾಷೆಯೋ? ಅಥವಾ ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ವಿರೋಧ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆಯೋ?
ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನದ ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ಆಟಗಾರ ಶೋಯೆಬ್ ಮಲಿಕ್‌ರನ್ನು ನಮ್ಮ ಟೆನಿಸ್ ತಾರೆ ಸಾನಿಯಾ ಮಿರ್ಜಾ ವರಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬ ಸುದ್ದಿಯನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ‘ಜಿಯೋ’ ಟಿವಿ ವರದಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು ಮಾರ್ಚ್ ೨೯ರ ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನ. ಇದಾಗಿ ಒಂದೆರಡು ಗಂಟೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತದ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಗಳೂ ಕೂಡ ‘ಬ್ರೇಕಿಂಗ್ ಸುದ್ದಿ’ಯಾಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಬಿತ್ತರಿಸತೊಡಗಿದವು. ಅದರ ಬೆನ್ನಲ್ಲೇ, ಒಂದೆಡೆ ಏನೋ ಉಲ್ಲಾಸ ವ್ಯಕ್ತವಾದರೆ, ಕೆಲವರು ವಟವಟ ಎನ್ನಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಾ, ಸಾನಿಯಾ ಯಾರನ್ನೇ ಮದುವೆಯಾದರೂ ಇತರರೇಕೆ ತಲೆಕೆಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು? ಆಕೆ ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನಿಯನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಯಾದ ಮಾತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ದೇಶವಿರೋಧಿ ಎಂದು ತೀರ್ಪು ನೀಡುವುದಾದರೆ 1968ರಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ದೇಶದ ಪ್ರಧಾನಮಂತ್ರಿ ಇಂದಿರಾ ಗಾಂಧಿಯವರ ಪುತ್ರ ರಾಜೀವ್ ಗಾಂಧಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನು? ಅವರು ವಿವಾಹವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಸೋನಿಯಾ ಮೈನೋ ಎಂಬ ವಿದೇಶಿಯಾಕೆಯನ್ನೇ ಅಲ್ಲವೆ? ಆ ಕಾಲದ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಹೇಗಿತ್ತು? ಇಡೀ ಜಗತ್ತು ಅಮೆರಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಸೋವಿಯತ್ ಒಕ್ಕೂಟಗಳೆಂಬ ಎರಡು ಬಣಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ಒಡೆದುಹೋಗಿತ್ತು. ಇತ್ತ ಅಲಿಪ್ತ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ಚಳವಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ (Non-Aligned Movement -NAM) ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ ಕೊಂಡರೂ ಭಾರತ ರಷ್ಯಾದ ಜತೆ ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸಿರುವುದು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ತಿಳಿದ ಸಂಗತಿಯೇ ಆಗಿತ್ತು. ಮತ್ತೊಂದೆಡೆ ಇಟಲಿ ಅಮೆರಿಕದ ಬಣದಲ್ಲಿತ್ತು. ಹೀಗೆ ವಿಶ್ವವೇ ಎರಡು ಬಣಗಳಾಗಿ ಒಡೆದ ಮೇಲೆ ಎದುರಾಳಿ ಬಣದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಇಟಲಿಯನ್ನು ಭಾರತದ ಮಿತ್ರ ಎನ್ನುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತೆ? ಅಂತಹ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜೀವ್ ಇಟಲಿಯ ಸೋನಿಯಾರನ್ನು ವಿವಾಹವಾದಾಗ ಶತ್ರು ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ಪುತ್ರಿಯನ್ನು ವಿವಾಹವಾದ ದ್ರೋಹಿ ಎಂಬಂತೇಕೆ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಾಣಲಿಲ್ಲ? ರಾಜೀವ್ ಗಾಂಧಿ ಸೋನಿಯಾ ಅವರನ್ನು ಮದುವೆ ಯಾಗಬಹುದಾದರೆ, ಸಾನಿಯಾ ಶೋಯೆಬ್‌ನನ್ನು ವರಿಸುವು ದರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ತಪ್ಪಿದೆ? ಅದಕ್ಕೂ ಮಿಗಿಲಾಗಿ, ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನ-ಭಾರತ ಎಂದು ನಾವೆಷ್ಟೇ ಬಡಿದಾಡಿದರೂ We share the common blood. ಇಚ್ಛಿಸಿ ವರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಇಬ್ಬರ ವಿವಾಹದ ನಡುವೆಯೂ ಏಕೆ ಮತ್ಸರವನ್ನು ಎಳೆದು ತರಬೇಕು? ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನಿಯನ್ನು ಮದುವೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಳೆ ಎಂಬ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಆಕೆಯ ಸಮಗ್ರತೆಯನ್ನೇ ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸುವುದು ಎಷ್ಟು ಸರಿ? ಆಕೆಗೆ ಹೆಸರು, ಖ್ಯಾತಿ, ಕಾಸು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು ಭಾರತವೆಂಬುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ಅನುಮಾನವೂ ಇಲ್ಲ, ಹಾಗಂತ ಆಕೆಯಿಂದ ಭಾರತಕ್ಕೇನೂ ಸಿಗಲಿಲ್ಲವೆ?

ಇದೆಲ್ಲಾ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಿದ್ದು ೨೦೦೫ರಲ್ಲಿ. ಏಕೆ ವರ್ಷದ ಮೊದಲನೇ ಗ್ರ್ಯಾಂಡ್‌ಸ್ಲ್ಯಾಮ್ ಆದ ‘ಆಸ್ಟ್ರೇಲಿಯನ್ ಓಪನ್’ ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರನೇ ಸುತ್ತನ್ನು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದಾಗ ಮೊದಲ ಸ್ಫೋಟಕ ಸುದ್ದಿ ಹೊರಬಿತ್ತು. ಆ ಸುತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಗ್ರ ಶ್ರೇಯಾಂಕಿತರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಸೆರೆನಾ ವಿಲಿಯಮ್ಸ್ ಎದುರು ಸೋತರೂ ಸಾನಿಯಾ ಕಠಿಣ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ನೀಡಿದಳು. ಆ ವರ್ಷದ ಗಣರಾಜ್ಯೋತ್ಸವದ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಔತಣಕೂಟವೊಂದನ್ನು ಏರ್ಪಡಿಸಿದ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿ ಡಾ. ಅಬ್ದುಲ್ ಕಲಾಂ ಗಣ್ಯರ ಜತೆ ಸಾನಿಯಾಳನ್ನೂ ಆಹ್ವಾನಿಸಿದರು. ಆಕೆಯ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಮುಕ್ತಕಂಠದಿಂದ ಶ್ಲಾಘನೆ ಮಾಡಿ, ಆಸ್ಟ್ರೇಲಿಯನ್ ಓಪನ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ತೋರಿದ ಸಾಧನೆಗಾಗಿ ಅಭಿನಂದಿಸಿದರು. ಹೀಗೆ ಒಂದೇ ಒಂದು ಗ್ರ್ಯಾಂಡ್‌ಸ್ಲ್ಯಾಮ್‌ನಲ್ಲೇ ಸಾನಿಯಾ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿಯ ಗಮನ ಸೆಳೆಯುವ ಸಾಧನೆ ತೋರಿದಳು. ಅಂದಮಾತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಆಕೆಯೇನು ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬ ಮೋನಿಕಾ ಸೆಲೆಸ್, ಸ್ಟೆಫಿ ಗ್ರಾಫ್, ಗ್ರ್ಯಾಬ್ರಿಯಾಲಾ ಸೆಬಾಟಿನಿಯಾಗುತ್ತಾಳೆಂಬ ಯಾವ ಸೂಚನೆಗಳೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ನಾವು ಹೊತ್ತು ಮೆರೆಯಲು, ಒಪ್ಪಿ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಲು, ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಪಡಲು ಕಾರಣವೂ ಇತ್ತು. ಪುರುಷರ ಟೆನಿಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಮನಾಥನ್ ಕೃಷ್ಣನ್, ರಮೇಶ್ ಕೃಷ್ಣನ್, ಅಮೃತ್‌ರಾಜ್ ಸೋದರರು, ಲಿಯಾಂಡರ್ ಪೇಸ್ ಹೀಗೆ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಪ್ರತಿಭಾನ್ವಿತರು ಬಂದು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದರು, ಇದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಭಾರತದ ಮಹಿಳಾ ಟೆನಿಸ್ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಬಹುನಿರೀಕ್ಷಿತ, ಅಗತ್ಯ ಆಶಾಕಿರಣವಾಗಿ ಬಂದವಳು ಸಾನಿಯಾ. Beauty with brain ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರಲ್ಲಾ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಸಾನಿಯಾ ನೋಡುವುದಕ್ಕೂ ಚೆಂದವಾಗಿದ್ದಳು. ಆಂತರಿಕ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಾವೆಷ್ಟೇ ಪ್ರವಚನ ನೀಡಿದರೂ ಬಾಹ್ಯ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಮಗಿರುವ ಮೋಹವನ್ನು ಅಲ್ಲಗಳೆಯುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆಯೇ? ಅಂದದ ಜತೆ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯನ್ನೂ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ಸಾನಿಯಾ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಗಳೂ ಕುತೂಹಲ ಹೊಂದಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದವು. ಜಾಹೀರಾತು ಕಂಪನಿಗಳೂ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ತೋರತೊಡಗಿದವು. 2005ರಲ್ಲಿ ಆಕೆ ಆಸ್ಟ್ರೇಲಿಯನ್ ಓಪನ್‌ಗೆ ಪದಾರ್ಪಣೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಮೊದಲೇ ಜಿ.ವಿ.ಕೆ. ಇಂಡಸ್ಟ್ರೀಸ್, ಆಟ್ಲಾಸ್ ಸೈಕಲ್, ಟಾಟಾ ಟೀ, ಸಹಾರಾ ಹಾಗೂ ಆಂಧ್ರ ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ಪ್ರಾಧಿಕಾರ ಹೀಗೆ ಸಾನಿಯಾ 5 ಜಾಹೀರಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದಳು. 2005ರಲ್ಲೇ ವರ್ಷದ ಕೊನೆಯ ಗ್ರ್ಯಾಂಡ್‌ಸ್ಲ್ಯಾಮ್ ಆದ ಯುಎಸ್ ಓಪನ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಾಲ್ಕನೆ ಸುತ್ತು ಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದ ಸಾನಿಯಾ ತನ್ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೊಮ್ಮೆ ಜಗಜ್ಜಾಹೀರುಗೊಳಿಸಿದಳು. ನಮಗೆಲ್ಲ ಒಂಥರಾ ಖುಷಿ, ಭಾರತೀಯಳೆಂಬ ಅಭಿಮಾನ, ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಮೂಡತೊಡಗಿತು. ಅನಿವಾಸಿ ಭಾರತೀಯರೂ ಇಂತಹ ಭಾವನೆಯಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆಕೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ಗ್ರ್ಯಾಂಡ್‌ಸ್ಲ್ಯಾಮ್‌ಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋದರೂ ಆಯಾ ದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿರುವ ಅನಿವಾಸಿ ಭಾರತೀಯರು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಗಮಿಸಿ ಪ್ರೋತ್ಸಾಹಿಸತೊಡ ಗಿದರು. ಸಾನಿಯಾಗಳ ಶ್ರೇಯಾಂಕ ೨೭ಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿತು. ಮುಂದೊಂದು ದಿನ ಸಿಂಗಲ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಕೆ ಭಾರತಕ್ಕೆ ಗ್ರ್ಯಾಂಡ್‌ಸ್ಲ್ಯಾಮ್ ತಂದುಕೊಟ್ಟರೂ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ಭಾವನೆ ದೇಶವಾಸಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಡುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದಳು.
ಜತೆಜತೆಗೇ ಆಕೆ ನವ, ಯುವ ಭಾರತದ New Icon, ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಯಂತೆ ಗೋಚರಿಸತೊಡಗಿದಳು.
115 ಕೋಟಿ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಿದ್ದರೂ ಹೀರೋಗಳ ತೀವ್ರ ಕೊರತೆ ಎದುರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ, ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಮಹಿಳಾ ವೃಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾನಿಯಾಳಂಥ ತಾರೆಯ ತೀವ್ರ ಹಾಗೂ ತ್ವರಿತ ಅಗತ್ಯ ವಿತ್ತು. ಆಕೆ IT-driven, knowledge-based, Forward-looking nation ಎಂಬ ಭಾರತದ ಹೆಸರಿಗೆ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಗರಿಯೆಂಬಂತೆ ಭಾಸವಾಗತೊಡಗಿದಳು. ನಮ್ಮ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಸಚಿವಾಲಯ ‘ಹೆಣ್ಣು ಶಿಶು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿ’(Save the Girl Child) ಎಂಬ ತನ್ನ ಜನಜಾಗೃತಿ ಪ್ರಚಾರಾಂದೋಲನಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾನಿಯಾಳನ್ನು ರೂಪದರ್ಶಿಯಾಗಿ ನಿಯುಕ್ತಿ ಮಾಡಿತು. ನಿಮಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾ, ಹೆಣ್ಣುಭ್ರೂಣವನ್ನು ಹತ್ಯೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ ಲಿಂಗ ಸಮಾನತೆ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸಲು ನಿಯುಕ್ತಿಗೊಂಡ ಮೊದಲ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ಮಹಿಳೆ ಸಾನಿಯಾ ಮಿರ್ಜಾ! ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮ್ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರೆಂದರೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಮನೆಯಿಂದಲೇ ಹೊರ ಬಾರದವರು ಎಂಬ ಭಾವನೆಯಿರುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾನಿಯಾ ಆಧುನಿಕತೆ, ಸಾಕ್ಷರತೆ, ಸಶಕ್ತೀಕರಣದ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟಳು. ಒಮ್ಮೆ ತನ್ನ ಟೆನಿಸ್ ಸ್ಕರ್ಟ್ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮುಲ್ಲಾಗಳು ತಕರಾರು ತೆಗೆದಾಗ ಸಾನಿಯಾ ತೆಪ್ಪಗೆ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ, ಹೆದರಿ ಸುಮ್ಮನಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ. “ಯಾರೂ ಪರಿಪೂರ್ಣರಲ್ಲ. ನಾನು ಚೋಟುದ್ದದ ಸ್ಕರ್ಟ್, ಪ್ಯಾಂಟ್ ಧರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂಬ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಕೆಟ್ಟ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ಆಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ” ಎಂದಳು. ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅಲ್ಲ, “ನನ್ನ ಸ್ಕರ್ಟ್ 6 ಅಡಿಯಾದರೂ ಇರಬಹುದು ಅಥವಾ 6 ಇಂಚಾದರೂ ಇರಬಹುದು, ಗೆಲುವಷ್ಟೇ ನನಗೆ ಮುಖ್ಯ” ಎಂದು ಫತ್ವಾ ಹೊರಡಿಸಿದ್ದ ಧರ್ಮಾಂಧರಿಗೆ ಮಾತಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಕಪಾಳಮೋಕ್ಷ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಳು.

I think talking about India and Pakistan relationship through this marriage is baseless.
