ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲ ವೀರಕಲಿಗಳ ಕತೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅಪ್ಪ ಮುಂದೆ ಮುಂದೆ ಸಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆ, ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷದ ಮಗ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಹಾಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದ. ಅಪ್ಪನ ಕತೆ ಮುಂದು ವರಿದಿತ್ತು. ಗದ್ದೆ ದಾಟಿ ಆಚೆ ಬದಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಸೇರಿದ್ದೂ ಆಯಿತು. ಆದರೆ ಬರಬರುತ್ತಾ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಸಪ್ಪಳವೇ ನಿಂತುಹೋಗಿತ್ತು. ಹಿಂದಿರುಗಿ ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಮಗನೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ನಡೆದು ಬಂದ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲೇ ವಾಪಸ್ ಬಂದರೆ ಆ ಮೂರು ವರ್ಷದ ಬಾಲಕ ಗದ್ದೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗುಂಡಿ ತೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ. ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯಚಕಿತನಾದ ಅಪ್ಪ, ಏನು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿ ದ್ದೀಯಾ? ಅಂತ ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಿದಾಗ ಮಗ ಹೇಳಿದ-‘ಅಪ್ಪಾ, ಈ ಗದ್ದೆ ಯಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲ ಬಾಂಬ್ ಬೆಳೆಯಬೇಕು. ಅದಕ್ಕೇ ಬಾಂಬ್ ಗಿಡ ನೆಡಲು ಗುಂಡಿ ತೋಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ’!
ಅವನೇ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್.
ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಎಳೆ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲೇ ಆತನನ್ನು ಅತಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಾಡಿದ್ದು 1919ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದ ಜಲಿಯನ್‌ವಾಲಾ ಬಾಗ್ ಹತ್ಯಾಕಾಂಡ. ಅಂದು ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಜನರು ಹತ್ಯೆಯಾಗಿರುವ ಸುದ್ದಿ ಎಲ್ಲೆಡೆಯೂ ಹಬ್ಬಿತ್ತು. ಶಾಲೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟ ಕೂಡಲೇ ತಂಗಿಯ ಕೈಗೆ ಬ್ಯಾಗ್ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಭಗತ್, ಅದೆತ್ತಲೋ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಹಾಕಿದ. ರಾತ್ರಿ ಮನೆಗೆ ಮರಳಿದಾಗ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂಕಿನ ಬಾಟಲಿಯಿತ್ತು. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಶಾಯಿಯ ಬದಲು ಮಣ್ಣು ತುಂಬಿತ್ತು. ಆ ಮಣ್ಣು ಮನೆಯ ಪೂಜಾ ಕೊಠಡಿ ಸೇರಿ ನಿತ್ಯ ಆರಾಧನೆಗೆ ಭಾಜನವಾಯಿತು. ಅಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೂ ಅದು ಜಲಿಯನ್ ವಾಲಾಬಾಗ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪೊಲೀಸರ ಗುಂಡಿಗೆ ಬಲಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ ದೇಶವಾಸಿಗಳ ರಕ್ತದಿಂದ ತೊಯ್ದಿದ್ದ ಮಣ್ಣಾಗಿತ್ತು!
1922ರಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋರಕ್‌ಪುರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಚೌರಿಚೌರಾ ಎಂಬಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಮೆರವಣಿಗೆಯೊಂದನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಅಮಾಯಕರ ಮೇಲೆ ಲಾಠಿ ಪ್ರಹಾರ ಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ರೊಚ್ಚಿಗೆದ್ದ ಜನ, 22 ಪೊಲೀಸರನ್ನು ಠಾಣೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಕೂಡಿಹಾಕಿ ಸಜೀವ ದಹನ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಮನನೊಂದ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿ ದೇಶಾದ್ಯಂತ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ‘ಅಸಹಕಾರ ಚಳವಳಿ’ಯಿಂದಲೇ ಹಿಂದೆ ಸರಿದರು. 22 ಪೊಲೀಸರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದರೆಂಬ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಅಸಹಕಾರದಂತಹ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಚಳವಳಿಯನ್ನೇ ಕೈಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು ಸರಿಯೆ? ತನ್ನ ಬಾಲ್ಯದ ಹೀರೋ ಕರ್ತಾರ್ ಸಿಂಗ್‌ನನ್ನು ಗಲ್ಲಿಗೇರಿಸಿದಾಗ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ಸಿಗರೇಕೆ ಧ್ವನಿಯೆತ್ತಲಿಲ್ಲ? ಪೊಲೀಸರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದಾಗ ಮಾತ್ರ ಅಹಿಂಸಾವಾದ ಜಾಗೃತವಾಗುವುದೇಕೆ? ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳು 15 ವರ್ಷದ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್‌ನನ್ನು ಕಾಡಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದವು. ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಲಾಲಾಲಜಪತ್ ರಾಯ್ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದ್ದ ಲಾಹೋರ್‌ನ ನ್ಯಾಷನಲ್ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಸೇರಿದ ನಂತರ ಭಗತ್ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಬದಲಾದ.
ಅದು 1928, ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 30.
ಸೈಮನ್ ಆಯೋಗ ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡ್‌ನಿಂದ ಆಗಮಿಸಿತ್ತು, ಭಾರ ತೀಯರಿಗೆ ಎಷ್ಟು ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಕೊಡಬೇಕೆಂಬುದನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸಲು. ಅದು ಲಾಹೋರ್ ರೈಲು ನಿಲ್ದಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿಳಿಯುವ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಲಾಲಾ ಜಲಪತ್‌ರಾಯ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಪಂಡಿತ್ ಮದನ್ ಮೋಹನ್ ಮಾಳವೀಯ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ‘ನೌಜವಾನ್ ಭಾರತ್ ಸಭಾ’ ಭಾರಿ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನೆ ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡಿತ್ತು. ಕಪ್ಪು ಬಾವುಟಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರತಿಭಟನಾಕಾರರಿಗೆ ಹಿಂದೆ ಸರಿಯುವಂತೆ ಖಾಕಿಧಾರಿಗಳು ಸೂಚನೆ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಯಾರೂ ಕದಲಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಸೂಪ ರಿಂಟೆಂಡೆಂಟ್ ಸ್ಯಾಂಡರ್ಸ್, ಲಾಠಿಚಾರ್ಜ್‌ಗೆ ಆದೇಶ ನೀಡಿದ. ಸ್ಕಾಟ್ ಎಂಬ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿ ವಯೋವೃದ್ಧ ಲಾಲಾ ಲಜಪತ್ ರಾಯ್ ಅವರ ಎದೆಗೆ ಲಾಠಿಯಿಂದ ಬಡಿದು ಪ್ರಾಣಾಂತಿಕವಾಗಿ ಗಾಯಗೊಳಿಸಿದ. 18 ದಿನಗಳ ಕಾಲ (1928, ನವೆಂಬರ್ 17) ನರಳಿದ ಲಜಪತ್ ರಾಯ್ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನಗಲಿದರು. ಕೆರಳಿದ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಮತ್ತು ರಾಜಗುರು 1928, ಡಿಸೆಂಬರ್ 17ರ ಸಾಯಂ ಕಾಲ 4 ಗಂಟೆ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಠಾಣೆಯಿಂದ ಹೊರಬಂದ ಸ್ಯಾಂಡರ್ಸ್‌ನನ್ನು ಗುಂಡಿಕ್ಕಿ ಕೊಲೆಗೈದು ಪರಾರಿಯಾದರು.
ಆ ವೇಳೆಗಾಗಲೇ ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬ ಕ್ರಾಂತಿಕಾರಿ ಚಂದ್ರಶೇಖರ್ ಆಜಾದರ ಪರಿಚಯವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆಜಾದರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ಯೋಜನೆ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಯಿತು. 1929, ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ದಿಲ್ಲಿಯ ಕೇಂದ್ರೀಯ ಶಾಸನಸಭೆಯ ಮುಂದೆ ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷ್ ಸರಕಾರ ಎರಡು ಮಸೂದೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಂದಿಡಲಿತ್ತು. ಆ ಮಸೂದೆಗಳು ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಚಳವಳಿಯನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿಕ್ಕುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ಹೊಂದಿವೆ ಎಂಬುದು ಗೊತ್ತಾಗಿತ್ತು. ದೇಶಾದ್ಯಂತ ವಿರೋಧ ವ್ಯಕ್ತವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಕೂಡ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಮಸೂದೆಗಳು ಬಿದ್ದುಹೋಗುವ ಎಲ್ಲ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಗಳೂ ಇದ್ದವು. ಆದರೆ ವೈಸರಾಯ್ ತನ್ನ ‘ವೀಟೋ ಪವರ್’ ಉಪಯೋಗಿಸಿ ಮಸೂದೆಗೆ ಅಂಗೀಕಾರ ನೀಡುವ ಅವಕಾಶವಿತ್ತು. ಇತ್ತ ಚಂದ್ರಶೇಖರ್ ಆಜಾದ್ ಯೋಜನೆಯೊಂದನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸಿದ್ದರು. 1929, ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್ 8ರಂದು ಅಧಿವೇಶನ ಆರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. ಪನಾಮ ಹ್ಯಾಟ್ ಧರಿಸಿದ್ದ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಬಟುಕೇಶ್ವರ್ ದತ್ ಬಾಂಬ್ ಮತ್ತು ರಿವಾಲ್ವರ್‌ಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕರ ಗ್ಯಾಲರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಸೀನರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆಯಂತೆಯೇ ಮತದಾನದ ವೇಳೆ ಎರಡೂ ಮಸೂದೆಗಳು ಬಿದ್ದುಹೋದವು. ವೀಟೋ ಅಧಿಕಾರವನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿ ಮಸೂದೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾನೂನಾಗಿ ಮಾರ್ಪಡಿಸುವುದಾಗಿ ವೈಸರಾಯ್ ಘೋಷಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೂ ಆಯಿತು. ಆದರೆ ವೀಟೋ ಪ್ರಯೋಗಿಸುವ ಮೊದಲು ಸದನದೊಳಗೆ ಬಾಂಬ್ ಸ್ಫೋಟ. ಇದ್ದಕ್ಕಿದ್ದಂತೆಯೇ ‘ಇಂಕ್ವಿಲಾಬ್ ಜಿಂದಾಬಾದ್’ ಎಂಬ ಘೋಷಣೆ. ಜನಜಂಗುಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಬಟುಕೇಶ್ವರ ದತ್ತ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ವಿಚಾರಣೆ ಎದುರಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಕ್ರಾಂತಿಯ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ದೇಶದುದ್ದಗಲಕ್ಕೂ ಪಸರಿಸುವ, ಸಾರುವ ಸಲುವಾಗಿ ಬಂಧಿತರಾದರು. 1930, ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 7ರಂದು ತೀರ್ಪು ಹೊರಬಿತ್ತು. ಶಾಸನಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಂಬ್‌ಸ್ಫೋಟ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್, ರಾಜಗುರು ಮತ್ತು ಸುಖದೇವ್‌ಗೆ ಗಲ್ಲುಶಿಕ್ಷೆ ನಿಗದಿಯಾಯಿತು.
ಈ ನಡುವೆ ಮಹಾತ್ಮ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿ ದುಂಡುಮೇಜಿನ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಳ್ಳಲು ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡಿಗೆ ಹೊರಟು ನಿಂತರು.
ಆ ವೇಳೆಗಾಗಲೇ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್, ರಾಜಗುರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸುಖದೇವ್‌ರನ್ನು ಗಲ್ಲಿಗೇರಿಸುವ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ದೇಶಾದ್ಯಂತ ಸಹಿ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಣೆ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಗಲ್ಲುಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕುವಂತೆ ಬ್ರಿಟನ್ ಆಡಳಿತದ ಮನವೊಲಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ‘ಯುವ ವಾಹಿನಿ’, ‘ನೌಜವಾನ್ ಭಾರತ್ ಸಭಾ’ ಹಾಗೂ ಖ್ಯಾತ ಗಾಂಧೀವಾದಿ ಅರುಣಾ ಅಸಫ್ ಅಲಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಇಡೀ ದೇಶವಾಸಿಗಳು ಒಕ್ಕೊರಲಿ ನಿಂದ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಿಗೆ ಮನವಿ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡ್‌ಗೆ ತೆರಳಿದ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿ 1931, ಮಾರ್ಚ್ 5ರಂದು ಲಾರ್ಡ್ ಇರ್ವಿನ್ ಜತೆ ಒಪ್ಪಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಿ ಹಾಕಿದರು. ಅದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಅಸಹಕಾರ ಚಳವಳಿಯನ್ನು ಅಧಿಕೃತವಾಗಿ ಕೈಬಿಡಲು ಒಪ್ಪಿತು. ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ಸಿಗರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಹೇರಿದ್ದ ನಿರ್ಬಂಧವನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದು ಹಾಕಲು ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷ್ ಆಡಳಿತ ಕೂಡ ಸಮ್ಮತಿ ನೀಡಿತು.
ಆದರೆ…
ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಯವರು, ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್‌ಗೆ ಮಾಫಿ ನೀಡುವ ವಿಚಾರ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಉಳಿದೆಲ್ಲ ವಿಷಯಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆಯೂ ಇರ್ವಿನ್ ಜತೆ ಚರ್ಚೆ ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದರು! ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ, ಅಸಹಕಾರ ಚಳವಳಿಯನ್ನು ಕೈಬಿಡಬೇಕಾದರೆ, ಒಪ್ಪಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಿ ಹಾಕಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್‌ಗೆ ಗಲ್ಲುಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯಿಂದ ಮಾಫಿ ನೀಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿ ಯೇನಾದರೂ ಪೂರ್ವಷರತ್ತು ಹಾಕಿದ್ದರೆ, ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರಿಗೆ ಬೇರೆ ಮಾರ್ಗವೇ ಇರುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೆ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಸಾಯುವುದು ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರಿಗಿಂತ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಗೆ ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯವಾಗಿತ್ತು! ಬಾಲ ಗಂಗಾಧರ ತಿಲಕರ ಮರಣದ ಆ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ಬಹಳ convenient ಆಗಿ ಆಕ್ರಮಿಸಿದ್ದ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಗೆ ಭಯವಿದ್ದಿದ್ದು ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಭಾಷ್‌ಚಂದ್ರ ಬೋಸ್ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ. 23 ವರ್ಷದ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್, 62 ವರ್ಷದ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಯಷ್ಟೇ ಹೆಸರುವಾಸಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ. ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿ ಹೇಗೆತಾನೇ ಸಹಿಸಿಯಾರು? ಒಂದು ವೇಳೆ 1931ರಲ್ಲಿ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್‌ನನ್ನು ಗಲ್ಲಿಗೇರಿಸದಿದ್ದರೆ ಹೇಗೆ ಗಾಂಧಿ-ಭಗತ್ ಚಿಂತನೆ ನಡುವೆ ಸಂಘರ್ಷ ಆರಂಭವಾಗು ತ್ತಿತ್ತು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು “To Make the Deaf Hear: Ideology and Programme of Bhagat Singh and His Comrades” ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶ್ಲೇಷಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದೇನೇ ಇರಲಿ, ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿ ದ್ರೋಹ ಬಗೆದ ನಂತರ, ಭಗತ್‌ನನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಬೇರಾವುದೇ ಮಾರ್ಗಗಳು ಉಳಿದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. 1931, ಮಾರ್ಚ್ ೨೩ರಂದು ರಾತ್ರಿ 7 ಗಂಟೆ 33 ನಿಮಿಷಕ್ಕೆ ಮೊದಲು ಸುಖದೇವ್, ನಂತರ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್, ಕೊನೆಯವನಾಗಿ ರಾಜಗುರು ಮುಖಕ್ಕೆ ಕಪ್ಪುಬಟ್ಟೆ ತೊಡದೆ, ಕೈಗೆ ಕೋಳ ಹಾಕಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ ಕುಣಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಚುಂಬಿಸಿ ನಗುತ್ತಲೇ ತಲೆಕೊಟ್ಟು ನಮ್ಮಿಂದ ದೂರವಾದರು.
ಆದರೆ ಈ ದೇಶ ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಅವರ ತ್ಯಾಗವನ್ನು ಮರೆತಿಲ್ಲ.
ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 2, ನವೆಂಬರ್ 14ನೇ ದಿನಾಂಕವನ್ನು ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷವೂ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಹಬ್ಬವೆಂಬಂತೆ ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಆದರೆ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ನಿಯತಕಾಲಿಕೆಯೊಂದು ಇತ್ತೀಚೆಗೆ ನಡೆಸಿದ ಸಮೀಕ್ಷೆ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಜನಪ್ರಿಯ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಹೋರಾಟಗಾರರ ಯಾದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗಾಂಧೀಜಿಯ ಸ್ಥಾನ 6ನೇಯದ್ದಾದರೆ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್, ಸುಭಾಷ್‌ಚಂದ್ರ ಬೋಸ್ ಮೊದಲೆರಡು ಸ್ಥಾನಗಳಲಿದ್ದರು!!

ಈ ಹಾಡನ್ನು ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಾಗಲೆಲ್ಲ ದೇಶಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಮಡಿದ ವೀರಕಲಿಗಳು ನೆನಪಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಜನಿಸಿದ್ದು ೧೯೦೭, ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ ೨೭ರಂದು. ಆತ ಸರ್ದಾರ್ ಕಿಶನ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಮತ್ತು ವಿದ್ಯಾವತಿಯವರ ಮೂರನೇ ಪುತ್ರ. ಇಡೀ ಕುಟುಂಬವೇ ಕ್ರಾಂತಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿತ್ತು. ಕಿಶನ್‌ಸಿಂಗ್ ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಕಿರಿಯ ಸೋದರರಾದ ಸ್ವರಣ್‌ಸಿಂಗ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಜಿತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಮೂವರೂ ಜೈಲು ಸೇರಿದ್ದರು. ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಜನಿಸುವ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಸರಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಿಶನ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ವರಣ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಯಾದರು. ಅಜಿತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಕೂಡ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಯಾಗುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭ ಬಂತು. ಹೀಗೆ ಜನನದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಇಡೀ ಕುಟುಂಬಕ್ಕೇ ಅದೃಷ್ಟ ತಂದನೆಂಬ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಆತನ ಅಜ್ಜಿ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ‘ಭಗವಾನ್‌ವಾಲಾ’ (ಅದೃಷ್ಟವಂತ) ಎಂದು ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಕರೆಯಲಾರಂಭಿಸಿದರು.
ಅಂತಹ ಪುತ್ರನಿಗೆ ಜನ್ಮಕೊಟ್ಟ ಭಾರತಾಂಬೆ ಕೂಡ ಅದೃಷ್ಟ ವಂತಳಲ್ಲವೆ?!

ಆತ ನಾಸ್ತಿಕನಾಗಿದ್ದನೇ? ಕಮ್ಯುನಿಸ್ಟನಾ? ಅಥವಾ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯವಾದಿಯೇ?
ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಜನಿಸಿ 103 ವರ್ಷಗಳಾದರೂ ಇಂಥದ್ದೊಂದು ಚರ್ಚೆ ಇಂದಿಗೂ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಆತ ನಾಸಿಕ್ತನಾಗಿದ್ದ. ದೇವರಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದುತ್ವದ ಜತೆಗೆ ಅವನು ಮಾಡುವಂಥದ್ದೇನೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಕಮ್ಯುನಿಸ್ಟರ ವಾದ. ಕಮ್ಯನಿಸ್ಟ್ ಪಕ್ಷ ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದು 1925ರಲ್ಲಿ. ಆದರೆ ಭಗತ್‌ಸಿಂಗ್ ಕೊನೆಯುಸಿರೆಳೆಯುವವರೆಗೂ ಕಮ್ಯುನಿಸ್ಟ್ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಸದಸ್ಯನಾಗಲಿಲ್ಲ.
ಆತ ಶುದ್ಧ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯವಾದಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದ. ದೇಶವನ್ನು ವಿದೇಶಿ ಆಕ್ರಮಣಕಾರರಿಂದ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಗೊಳಿಸುವುದು ಅವನ ಜೀವನದ ಪರಮ ಧ್ಯೇಯವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆತನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪ್ರತಿಮ ದೇಶಭಕ್ತಿ ಮೂಡುವಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನ ಕುಟುಂಬ, ಅವನು ಬೆಳೆದ ವಾತಾವರಣು ಕಾರಣವಾಗಿದ್ದವು. ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು ದೇಶಭಕ್ತ ಕುಟುಂಬದಲ್ಲಿ. ಆ ಕುಟುಂಬದವರು ಆರ್ಯ ಸಮಾಜದ ಅನುಯಾಯಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅವನ ತಾತ ಅರ್ಜುನ್ ಸಿಂಗ್, ಆರ್ಯ ಸಮಾಜದ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ತಂದೆ ಕಿಶನ್ ಸಿಂಗ್, ಚಿಕ್ಕಪ್ಪ ಅಜಿತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಗದಾರ್ ಪಕ್ಷದ ಸದಸ್ಯರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಭಾರತದಿಂದ ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರನ್ನು ಒದ್ದೋಡಿಸುವ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಪಕ್ಷವನ್ನು ಅಮೆರಿಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು.
ದಯಾನಂದ ಸರಸ್ವತಿ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ ಆರ್ಯ ಸಮಾಜದ ತತ್ತ್ವ, ಸಿದ್ಧಾಂತಗಳಿಂದ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಪ್ರಭಾವಿತನಾಗಿದ್ದ. ಆರ್ಯ ಸಮಾಜ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದೇ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಅಸಮಾನತೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊರ ಹಾಕುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಯುವಕರಲ್ಲಿ ದೇಶಭಕ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಮೂಡಿಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ. ಆರ್ಯ ಸಮಾಜ ಮೂರ್ತಿ ಪೂಜೆಯನ್ನು ವಿರೋಧಿಸುತ್ತಾದರೂ, ವೇದಗಳ ಸಾರ್ವಭೌಮತೆಯನ್ನು ಅದು ಎತ್ತಿ ಹಿಡಿದಿತ್ತು. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯತೆ ಪುಟಿದೇಳುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಛತ್ರಪತಿ ಶಿವಾಜಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಾರಾಣಾ ಪ್ರತಾಪ್ ಅವರ ದೇಶಪ್ರೇಮದಿಂದ ಆತ ಪ್ರಭಾವಿತನಾಗಿದ್ದ. ಇದನ್ನು ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಬಹಿರಂಗವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ, ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್, ರಾಜಕೀಯದ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಪಾಠವನ್ನು ಕಲಿತುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು ಶಚೀಂದ್ರನಾಥ್ ಸನ್ಯಾಲ್ ಅವರಿಂದ. ಸನ್ಯಾಲ್ ಅವರು ಹಿಂದೂಸ್ತಾನ್ ರಿಪಬ್ಲಿಕನ್ ಅಸೋಸಿಯೇಶನ್‌ನ ಸ್ಥಾಪಕರು. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಕಮ್ಯುನಿಸ್ಟ್ ಪಕ್ಷದಿಂದ ಯಾವುದೇ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಪಾಠವನ್ನೂ ಕಲಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟ. ಭಗತ್ ಸಿಂಗ್‌ನ ಆಪ್ತರಾಗಿದ್ದ ಆರ್ಯ ಸಮಾಜವಾದಿ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿಂದೂ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ಪ್ರಚಾರಕನಾಗಿದ್ದ ರಾಮ ಪ್ರಸಾದ್ ಬಿಸ್ಮಿಲ್, ಚಂದ್ರಶೇಖರ ಆಜಾದ್ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಸನಾತನ ಧರ್ಮದ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಕರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅದರ ಅನುಯಾಯಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಮಿಗಿಲಾಗಿ, ‘ಭಗತ್’ ಎಂದರೇ ‘ಭಕ್ತ’ ಎಂದರ್ಥ.

Whr the two main religions of our country had to b fignting for freedom of our country instd wer fi8tin wit each other dis wat made bhagat singh think abt religious stuff and God and lost belief in it but whn i went thru one of his comrades diaries its said that he latr on asked for amrit paani which is regared as sacred water for punjabis and the 6k’s which r also as much important so frm dis we may tel he was religius in his last days which is actually not yet prooven . Still Bhagat Singh is and will aremain a major influence and a inspiration for today’s youth.

we think our freedom is come without a drop of blood due to Gandhi, then who is responsible to the death of about 2,00,000 lives at the time of Partition.
He is reason for the birth of Pakistan, so he should be father of Pakistan but unfortunately we believe he is Father of our nation.
Unfortunately Gandhi’s asthi was dissolved in all Major river in world except Sindu river in Pakistan where they din allowed.
He is person forced Jawaharlal Nehru to pay 55 crores to Pakistan from treasury of India as agreement, or else he will go for Sathyagraha, that was the time Pakistan was waging the war against India. Is it the true sence when there was War to support opposite Nation by financially.

There will be no chains on the body or control by the state. This means that they want to eliminate: the Church, God and Religion; the state; Private property.”

yes dude.. u r right. they make all hue and cry regarding communist historians on distortion of history which on some occasions may be right. but being a bhagat singh admirer myself could not tolerate the incomplete picture of the man of the hour as portayed by the writer. he did not discuss ideological views of our great bhagat. his commitment to the communist ideology was complete.. the problem it seems doesn’t help the writer to boost his anti-communist tirade . the writer has painted the communists as anti-national in many of his articles. hence the trouble..
I agree that bhagath singh is a great person but you can’t simply tell that Ghandiji has done “droha” to bhagath singh and also the nation.Just imagine what and all gandhiji might have undergone to bring peace in these circumstances.I feel none of us can relate to his vision about the peaceful INDIA.Just think once how many of us are ready to forget our family to serve the nation.Infact his entire family sufferred so much because gandhiji gave his life for the nation.it is easy for all of us to sit here and comment on what they could have done,what they should have not done..but to implement is the reality.let us respect each one of them.Every one has contributed in their own way for our freedom..

though subhash bose was a staunch political rival of gandhi he held him in great respect and was never given to making cheap comments against him. some amount of restraint is needed when we write something against some individual..i would like to make one thing clear that i despise gandhian politics and never allow my tongue/ pen to make below the belt remarks against it.

@ APARNA: dont say tht he s doin controversy….. its the truth……. one of the british guy who was in tht roundtable conference wrote a book….. in tht he mentioned this event occured…. whr ghandi aftr talkin about everything except about bhaghath singh issue, he comes out to the media and tells that he tried his best to release him… tht was a white lie…. the bristish people always asked opion with ghandhiji only… he had so much power… but he was just a smart ass….
