ಇಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೂ ಅರುಂಧತಿ ಯಾವಾಗ ಭಾರತದ ಭಾಗವಾಗಿದ್ದರು?

ನೂರೈವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ ದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಹಾಂಕಾಂಗ್ 1997ರಲ್ಲಿ ಚೀನಾದ ಪಾಲಾಯಿತು. 442 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಮಕಾವು ಅನ್ನು ಆಳಿದ ಪೋರ್ಚುಗೀಸರು 1999ರಲ್ಲಿ ತುಟಿಪಿಟಿಕ್ ಅನ್ನದೆ ಚೀನಾದ ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ನೀಡಿ ಕಾಲ್ಕಿತ್ತರು. ಇನ್ನು ರಾಜಕೀಯವಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕಗೊಂಡಿದ್ದರೂ ತೈವಾನ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂದಿಗೂ ನಡೆಯುವುದು ಚೀನಾದ್ದೇ ದರ್ಬಾರು. ಕಳೆದ 2 ಸಾವಿರ ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಚೀನಾವನ್ನು ಆಳಿದ ಹಾನ್, ತಾಂಗ್, ಸಾಂಗ್, ಮಿಂಗ್, ಯಾನ್ ಮತ್ತು ಕಿಂಗ್ ಈ ಎಲ್ಲ ವಂಶಾಡಳಿತಗಳೂ ಪಕ್ಕದ ವಿಯೆಟ್ನಾಂ ಅನ್ನು ಕಬಳಿಸಲು ಯತ್ನಿಸಿವೆ. 1974ರಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ನೌಕಾ ಸಮರದ ನಂತರ ವಿಯೆಟ್ನಾಂಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ Paracel Islands ಅನ್ನು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣಕ್ಕೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುವಲ್ಲಿ ಚೀನಾ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಯಿತು. 1988ರಲ್ಲಿ Spratly Islandsಗಳನ್ನು ರಾತ್ರೋರಾತ್ರಿ ಆಕ್ರಮಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿತು. “Save Vietnam from China’s Expansionism” ಎಂಬ ಆನ್‌ಲೈನ್ ಪಿಟಿಶನ್ ಆರಂಭ ಮಾಡಿ, ಆ ಮೂಲಕ ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಚೀನಾದ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯಶಾಹಿತ್ವದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸಲು, ಅಪಾಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಎಚ್ಚರಿಸಲು ಮುಂದಾಗಬೇಕಾದಂತಹ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ವಿಯೆಟ್ನಾಂಗೆ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವಾಗಿದೆ. 1969ರಲ್ಲಿ ಗಡಿ ವಿವಾದ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನೆತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಸೋವಿಯತ್ ರಷ್ಯಾದ ಜತೆಗೂ ಚೀನಾ ಯುದ್ಧಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಂದಾಗಿತ್ತು. 1959ರಲ್ಲಿ ಟಿಬೆಟ್ ಅನ್ನು ನುಂಗಿ ನೀರುಕುಡಿದಿರುವ ಚೀನಾ, ಈಗ ನಮ್ಮ ಅರುಣಾಚಲ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಮೇಲೂ ಹಕ್ಕುಪ್ರತಿಪಾದನೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದೆ!
ಏಕಾಗಿ?
ಯಾವ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ, ಯಾವ ಆಧಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಚೀನಾ ತನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಗಳೆಲ್ಲವುಗಳ ಜತೆಯೂ ಕಾಲು ಕೆರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಜಗಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ? ಹಾಂಕಾಂಗ್, ಮಕಾವುಗಳನ್ನು ಏಕಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ತೆಕ್ಕೆಗೆ ಸೆಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಿತು?
Greater China!
ಇಂಥದ್ದೊಂದು ಪದಗುಚ್ಛವನ್ನು ಮೊದಲು ಬಳಸಿದ್ದು “China’s Geographic Foundations”(1930) ಎಂಬ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಬರೆದ ಅಮೆರಿಕದ ಭೂಗೋಳಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಜ್ಞ ಜಾರ್ಜ್ ಕ್ರೆಸ್ಸಿ. ಹಾನ್, ತಾಂಗ್, ಸಾಂಗ್, ಮಿಂಗ್, ಯಾನ್‌ನಿಂದ ಕಟ್ಟಕಡೆಯ ಕಿಂಗ್‌ವರೆಗೂ ಚೀನಾವನ್ನು ಆಳಿದ ಈ ಎಲ್ಲ ವಂಶಾಡಳಿತಗಳೂ ಯಾವ ಯಾವ ಭೂಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಭುತ್ವವನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸಿದ್ದವು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಪಟ್ಟಿಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಅವುಗಳೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಒಳಗೊಂಡ ಪ್ರದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ‘ಗ್ರೇಟರ್ ಚೈನಾ’ ಅಥವಾ ‘ಮಹಾ ಚೀನಾ’ ಎಂದು ಜಾರ್ಜ್ ಕ್ರೆಸ್ಸಿ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅದೀಗ ಕೇವಲ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಪುಟಗಳಿಗಷ್ಟೇ ಸೀಮಿತವಾಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಸೂಪರ್ ಪವರ್ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರವಾಗುತ್ತಾ ದಾಪುಗಾಲಿಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಚೀನಾ, ಆರ್ಥಿಕತೆಯ ಜತೆಗೆ ಭೌಗೋಳಿಕ ವಿಸ್ತಾರಕ್ಕೂ ಕೈಹಾಕಿದೆ. ಇತಿಹಾಸವನ್ನು ಪುನರಾವರ್ತನೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಮೂಲಕ ‘ಮಹಾ ಚೀನಾ’ ರಚನೆ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟಿದೆ. ಈ ನಡುವೆ ತನ್ನ ಕ್ಷಿನ್ ಜಿಯಾಂಗ್ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕತಾ ಚಳವಳಿಗೆ ಮುಂದಾದ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರನ್ನು ಮಿಲಿಟರಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೊಸಕಿಹಾಕಿದೆ. ಇಂತಹ ವಾಸ್ತವ ಕಣ್ಣಮುಂದೆ ಇದ್ದರೂ ಅರುಂಧತಿ ರಾಯ್ ಅವರೇಕೆ ‘ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರ ಎಂದೂ ಭಾರತದ ಅವಿಭಾಜ್ಯ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ’ ಎಂದು ಮತಿಗೇಡಿಯಂತೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ? ಅದ್ಯಾವ ಆಧಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಕೆ ಈ ರೀತಿಯ ಹೇಳಿಕೆ ನೀಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ? ಈಕೆಗೆ ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಕನಿಷ್ಠ eನವೂ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ? ಇಸ್ಲಾಂ ಧರ್ಮ ಹುಟ್ಟುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮೊದಲೇ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರ ಹಿಂದೂ ಧರ್ಮದ ಪುಣ್ಯಾತಿಪುಣ್ಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿತ್ತು ಎಂಬ ಸತ್ಯ ಈಕೆಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿಲ್ಲವೆ? ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರು ಅದ್ಯಾವ ಕಾರಣವನ್ನಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕತೆಯ ಹುಯಿಲೆಬ್ಬಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ?
ಭಾರತದ ಮುಕುಟಪ್ರಾಯದಂತಿರುವ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರಕ್ಕೂ ಹಿಂದೂ ಧರ್ಮಕ್ಕೂ ಇರುವ ಅವಿನಾಭಾವ ಸಂಬಂಧವಾದರೂ ಎಂಥದ್ದು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡಿರಿ?
ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಲ್ಲೇ ಹಿಂದುತ್ವದ ಕುರುಹುಗಳಿವೆ. ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರ ಕಣಿವೆಯಲ್ಲಿನ ವಿಶಾಲವಾದ ‘ಸತಿಸರ್’ ಕೊಳವನ್ನು ಸತಿ ದೇವಿಯ (ಶಿವನ ಪತ್ನಿಯಾದ ಪಾರ್ವತಿ) ಕೊಳವೆಂದೂ ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದನ್ನು ಕಶ್ಯಪ ಋಷಿಗಳು ಉದ್ಧಾರಗೊಳಿಸಿದರು ಎಂದು ಪುರಾಣ ಕತೆಗಳು ಹೇಳುತ್ತವೆ. ಪುರಾತನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದನ್ನು ‘ಕಶ್ಯಪಾಮರ್’ ಎಂದೂ ಕರೆಯಲಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಹೆಸರೇ ಮುಂದೆ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರವಾಯಿತು. ಪುರಾತನ ಗ್ರೀಕರು ಇದನ್ನು ‘ಕಸ್ಪೇರಿಯಾ’ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. 7ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದ ಚೀನಾದ ಯಾತ್ರಿಕ ಹುಯೆನ್‌ತ್ಸಾಂಗ್ ಇದನ್ನು ‘ಕಾಶಿಮಿಲೊ’ ಎಂದು ಕರೆದಿದ್ದ. ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದ ಕುರಿತು ಕಲ್ಹಣ ಬರೆದಿರುವ ಇತಿಹಾಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಗುವ ಮೊದಲ ದಾಖಲೆ ಮಹಾಭಾರತ ಯುದ್ಧ ಕಾಲದ್ದು. ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತಪೂರ್ವ 3ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಚಕ್ರವರ್ತಿ ಅಶೋಕ ಬೌದ್ಧಮತವನ್ನು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರ ಕಣಿವೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಚುರಪಡಿಸಿದ. ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತಶಕ 9ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದ ಹೊತ್ತಿಗೆ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರವು ಹಿಂದೂ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಕೇಂದ್ರವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರಿ ‘ಶೈವ ಪಂಥ’ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು ಈ ನೆಲದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ. ಅಲ್ಲದೆ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತದ ಮಹಾನ್ ಪಂಡಿತರಿಗೆ ಇದು ಸ್ವರ್ಗ ಸಮಾನವಾದ ಪ್ರದೇಶವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ, ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ವಿಜೃಂಭಣೆಗೆ ಮರುಳಾಗದವರೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರಕ್ಕೆ ಅದರದೇ ಆದ ಐತಿಹ್ಯವಿದೆ. ಕವಿಗಳು, ಇತಿಹಾಸಕಾರರು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರವನ್ನು ಹಾಡಿ ಹೊಗಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕಾಳಿದಾಸ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರ ಕಣಿವೆಯನ್ನು ‘ಸ್ವರ್ಗಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ಸುಂದರವಾದದ್ದು ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ಕೃಷ್ಟವಾದ ಸಂತಸ ಹಾಗೂ ಆನಂದದಾಯಕವಾದದ್ದು’ ಎಂದು ವರ್ಣಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದ ಮಹಾನ್ ಇತಿಹಾಸಜ್ಞನಾದ ಕಲ್ಹಣ ‘ಹಿಮಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮವಾದ ಪ್ರದೇಶ’ ಎಂದು ಬಣ್ಣಿಸಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ‘ಸೂರ್ಯನು ಸೌಮ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಹೊಳೆಯುವ ದೇಶವಿದು’ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾನವನು. ‘ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರ ಕಣಿವೆಯು ಮುತ್ತಿನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿಕೊಂಡ ಪಚ್ಚೆಯಂತಿದೆ. ಕೊಳಗಳ ನಾಡು, ಶುಭ್ರವಾದ ತೊರೆಗಳು, ಕಂಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಹಸಿರು, ನಯನಮನೋಹರವಾದ ವೃಕ್ಷಗಳು, ದಿಗಂತದೆತ್ತರಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಂತಿರುವ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠ ಪರ್ವತಗಳು, ಅವುಗಳಿಂದ ಬೀಸುವ ತಂಗಾಳಿ, ಸಿಹಿಯಾದ ನೀರು, ಸಾಹಸಿ ಪುರುಷರು, ಮಹಿಳೆಯರಿಂದ ಕಂಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ’ ಎಂದು ಹತ್ತೊಂಬತ್ತನೇ ಶತಮಾನದ ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷ್ ಇತಿಹಾಸಕಾರ ಸರ್ ವಾಲ್ಟರ್ ಲಾರೆನ್ಸ್ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದ ಕುರಿತು ಬರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.
ಇಂತಹ ನಿತ್ಯಮನೋಹರವಾದ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದಲ್ಲಿ 1346ರವರೆಗೂ ಹಲವಾರು ಹಿಂದೂ ಮಹಾರಾಜರು ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆ ನಡೆಸಿದರು. ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಕ್ರಮಣ ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದು 1346ರಲ್ಲಿ. ಈ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹತ್ತಾರು ಹಿಂದೂ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳನ್ನು ನಾಶಪಡಿಸಲಾಯಿತು ಹಾಗೂ ಹಿಂದೂಗಳು ಬಲವಂತವಾಗಿ ಇಸ್ಲಾಂ ಅಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಮೊಘಲರು 1587ರಿಂದ 1752ರವರೆಗೂ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ಆಡಳಿತ ನಡೆಸಿದರು. ಈ ಅವಧಿ ಶಾಂತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸುವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿತ್ತು. ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದ ಪಾಲಿಗೆ 1752ರಿಂದ 1819ರವರೆಗೂ ಕತ್ತಲೆಯ ಯುಗ. ಈ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಫ್ಘನ್‌ನ ಸರ್ವಾಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರವನ್ನು ಆಳಿದರು. ಸರಿಸುಮಾರು 500 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರ ಆಳ್ವಿಕೆ ನಡೆಯಿತು. 1819ರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಖ್ಖರ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯವಾದ ಪಂಜಾಬ್‌ಗೆ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಯಾಗುವುದರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರ ಆಡಳಿತ ಕೊನೆಗೊಂಡಿತು. 1846ರಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಮೊದಲ ಸಿಖ್ಖ್ ಯುದ್ಧದ ಬಳಿಕ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರ ಈಗಿರುವ ಸ್ವರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಂದೂ ಡೋಗ್ರಾ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಭಾಗ ವಾಯಿತು. ಡೋಗ್ರಾ ಆಡಳಿತಗಾರರಾದ ಮಹಾರಾಜ ಗುಲಾಬ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ (1846ರಿಂದ 1957), ಮಹಾರಾಜ ರಣಬೀರ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ (1857ರಿಂದ 1885), ಮಹಾರಾಜ ಪ್ರತಾಪ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ (1885ರಿಂದ 1925) ಹಾಗೂ ಮಹಾರಾಜ ಹರಿ ಸಿಂಗ್ (1925ರಿಂದ 1950) ಆಧುನಿಕ ಜಮ್ಮು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರಕ್ಕೆ ಬುನಾದಿಯನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿದರು.

೧೯೪೭ರಲ್ಲಿ ಬ್ರಿಟಿಷರು ಭಾರತವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೊರಟ ಬೆನ್ನಲ್ಲೇ ವಿವಾದ ಬುಸುಗುಟ್ಟ ತೊಡಗಿತು. ಭಾರತ ಮತ್ತು ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನ ವಿಭಜನೆಯಾದಾಗ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದ ರಾಜನಿಗೆ ತಾನು ಯಾವ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸೇರಬೇಕೆಂಬ ನಿರ್ಣಯ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳುವ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಭಾರತ ಅಥವಾ ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನ ಈ ಎರಡೂ ದೇಶಗಳಿಗೆ ಸೇರದೆ ತಾನು ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರವಾಗಿ ಉಳಿಯುವ ಅವಕಾಶವನ್ನು ಕೂಡ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಬಹು ಸಂಖ್ಯಾತ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಂ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಹಿಂದೂ ಮಹಾರಾಜನಾಗಿದ್ದ ಹರಿಸಿಂಗ್, ಕೆಲ ತಿಂಗಳ ಹೊಯ್ದಾಟದ ಬಳಿಕ 1947ರ ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಂದವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು, ವಿಲೀನಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಂದಾದರು. ಇದು ಧರ್ಮದ ಆಧಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನದ ನಾಯಕರನ್ನು ಕೆರಳಿಸಿತು. ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರು ಬಹುಸಂಖ್ಯಾತರಾಗಿರುವ ಭಾರತದ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಪಡಬೇಕೆನ್ನುವುದು ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನದ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯವಾಗಿತ್ತು. 1948ರಲ್ಲಿ ಜಮ್ಮು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಪಾಕ್ ಆಕ್ರಮಣ ನಡೆಸಿತು. ಕೊನೆಗೆ ಮಹಾರಾಜ ಹರಿ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಭಾರತದ ಆಶ್ರಯವನ್ನು ಪಡೆದುಕೊಂಡ. ಭಾರತ ತನ್ನ ಗಡಿಯನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಥಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸೇನೆಯನ್ನು ಕಳಿಸಿತು. ಇನ್ನೇನು ತನ್ನ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಜ್ಯ ಕೈಜಾರಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎನ್ನುವಷ್ಟರಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತದ ಜತೆ ವಿಲೀನಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಒಪ್ಪಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಮಹಾರಾಜ ಹರಿಸಿಂಗ್ ಸಹಿಹಾಕಿದರು, ಭಾರತ ತನ್ನ ಸೇನೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರಕ್ಕೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿತು. ಮೊಟ್ಟಮೊದಲ ಪರಮವೀರ ಚಕ್ರ ವಿಜೇತ ಸೋಮನಾಥ್ ಶರ್ಮಾ ಅವರಂತಹ ವೀರಕಲಿಗಳು ಪ್ರಾಣಕೊಟ್ಟು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿದರು. ಆ ವೇಳೆಗಾಗಲೇ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದ ಒಂದು ಭಾಗವನ್ನು ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನ ಕಬಳಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಕೊನೆಗೂ ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನದ ಮುನ್ನಡೆಯನ್ನು ತಡೆಯುವಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾರತ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಯಿತು. ಅದರ ಬೆನ್ನಲ್ಲೇ ಜವಾಹರಲಾಲ ನೆಹರು ಎಂಬ ‘ಮಹಾನ್’ ಪ್ರಧಾನಿ ಏಕಪಕ್ಷೀಯವಾಗಿ ಕದನ ವಿರಾಮ ಘೋಷಿಸಿದ್ದಲ್ಲದೆ, ವಿಶ್ವಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಭದ್ರತಾ ಮಂಡಳಿಗೆ ದೂರು ನೀಡಿದರು. ಇದರ ಪರಿಣಾಮವಾಗಿ ‘ಭಾರತ ಮತ್ತು ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನ ವಿಶ್ವಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ಆಯೋಗ’ (ಯುಎನ್‌ಸಿಐಪಿ) ರಚನೆಯಾಯಿತು. ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಕ್ರಮಣ ನಡೆಸಿದ ಆರೋಪಕ್ಕೆ ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನ ಗುರಿಯಾಯಿತಲ್ಲದೆ, ಜಮ್ಮು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದಿಂದ ತನ್ನ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಂತೆ ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನಕ್ಕೆ ತಾಕೀತು ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಇದರ ಜತೆಗೆ ‘ಜಮ್ಮು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರ ಭಾರತಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಬೇಕೇ ಅಥವಾ ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಬೇಕೇ ಎನ್ನುವುದನ್ನು ಜನಮತಗಣನೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸ ಬೇಕೆಂಬ’ ನಿರ್ಣಯವನ್ನು ಯುಎನ್‌ಸಿಐಪಿ ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸಿತು. ಆದರೆ ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನವೇ ವಿಶ್ವಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ನಿರ್ಣಯವನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ ಹಾಗೂ ಸೇನೆಯನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಜಮ್ಮು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಅಂತಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಯಾವುದೇ ನಿರ್ಣಾಯಕ ಪಾತ್ರವನ್ನು ವಹಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಫಲವಾಯಿತು. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಜಮ್ಮು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರವನ್ನು ಒಂದು ‘ವಿವಾದಿತ ಗಡಿ ಪ್ರದೇಶ’ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯಿತು.
ಅಂದಮಾತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರ ಈ ದೇಶದ ಅವಿಭಾಜ್ಯ ಅಂಗವಾಗದೇ ಹೋಗಿಬಿಡುತ್ತದೆಯೇ?
೨೦೦೦ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಯಾವುದೋ ಒಂದು ವಂಶ ಆಳಿತ್ತು ಎಂಬ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಮಕಾವು, ಹಾಂಕಾಂಗ್, ವಿಯೆಟ್ನಾಂ, ಟಿಬೆಟ್ ತನ್ನದೆಂದು ಚೀನಾ ಪ್ರತಿಪಾದಿಸುವುದಾದರೆ, ಇತಿಹಾಸದು ದ್ದಕ್ಕೂ ಭಾರತದ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರ ಈ ದೇಶದ ಅವಿಭಾಜ್ಯ ಅಂಗವಲ್ಲದೆ ಮತ್ತೇನು? ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಅರಿವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಾಲಗೆ ಹರಿಬಿಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಅರುಂಧತಿ ರಾಯ್ ಅವರ ಮೂರ್ಖತನಕ್ಕೆ ಏನನ್ನಬೇಕು? ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದ ಸಾರ್ವ ಭೌಮತೆಯನ್ನೇ ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಿದ ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಏಕೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಬಂಧಿಸಿಲ್ಲ? ನಮ್ಮ ಕೇಂದ್ರ ಸರಕಾರಕ್ಕೇನಾಗಿದೆ? ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು, ಪ್ರಚಾರ ಗಿಟ್ಟಿಸುವ ಆಕೆಯ ಚಟನ್ನು ಸಹಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾದ ದರ್ದು ನಮಗೇನಿದೆ? ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರ ಭಾರತದ ಅವಿಭಾಜ್ಯ ಅಂಗವಲ್ಲ ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಿರುವ ಆಕೆ ಯಾವತ್ತು ತಾನೇ ಭಾರತದ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿದ್ದರು? 1998ರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಟಲ್ ಬಿಹಾರಿ ವಾಜಪೇಯಿಯವರ ಸರಕಾರ ಅಣ್ವಸ್ತ್ರ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ನಡೆಸಿ ದೇಶದ ಆತ್ಮಸ್ಥೈರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿದ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲೂ ಇನ್ನು ಮುಂದೆ ನಾನು ಭಾರತದ ನಾಗರಿಕಳೇ ಎಂಬರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ “I hereby declare myself an independent, mobile republic” ಎಂದು ಘೋಷಣೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಆಕೆಗೆ ಭಾರತದ ಸಮಗ್ರತೆ, ಸಾರ್ವಭೌಮತೆ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡುವ ಹಕ್ಕಾದರೂ ಏನಿದೆ? ಭಾರತಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ಮೊದಲು ಅಮೆರಿಕ, ರಷ್ಯಾ, ಫ್ರಾನ್ಸ್, ಬ್ರಿಟನ್, ಚೀನಾ ಕೂಡ ಅಣುಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದವು ಎಂಬ ಅರಿವೇ ಇಲ್ಲದವರಂತೆ ಭಾರತ ಅಣುಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಕೂಡಲೇ ನನ್ನ ಪಾಲಿಗೆ ಜಗತ್ತೇ ಸತ್ತುಹೋಯಿತು ಎಂದು ಔಟ್‌ಲುಕ್ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ಆಕೆಯಂತಹ ತಿಳಿಗೇಡಿಗಳನ್ನು ಏಕೆ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ಬಿಡಬೇಕು? “The End of Imagination” ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಡಿ ಬರೆದ ಮಾರುದ್ಧದ ಲೇಖನದಲ್ಲಿ, “The bomb is India. India is the bomb. Not just India, Hindu India” ಎಂದು ಭಾರತದ ಹಿಂದೂಗಳೆಲ್ಲ ಕೋಮುವಾದಿಗಳೆಂಬಂತೆ ಚಿತ್ರಿಸಿದ್ದ ಸಿರಿಯನ್ ಕ್ರಿಶ್ಚಿಯನ್ನಳಾದ ಅರುಂಧತಿ ರಾಯ್‌ರನ್ನು ಎಷ್ಟು ದಿನ ಸಹಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು? ವಾಕ್ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯದ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಆಕೆ ಬಾಯಿಗೆ ಬಂದಂತೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಬಹುದಾದರೆ ಮೇಜರ್ ಸೋಮನಾಥ್ ಶರ್ಮಾ, ವಿಕ್ರಂ ಬಾತ್ರಾ, ಸುಧೀರ್ ವಾಲಿಯಾ, ಕ್ಯಾಪ್ಟನ್ ಹರ್ಷನ್, ವಿಜಯಂತ್ ಥಾಪರ್ ಮುಂತಾದ ವೀರಸೈನಿಕರು ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಯಾಕಾಗಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಾಣ ಕೊಡಬೇಕಿತ್ತು? ಜನಮತಗಣನೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಅಥವಾ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕತೆಯ ಕೂಗಿಗೆ ಮಣಿದು, ಭಯೋತ್ಪಾದಕತೆಗೆ ಹೆದರಿ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಡಬೇಕು ಎನ್ನುವುದಾದರೆ ನಮ್ಮ ಸೇನೆ ಇಷ್ಟು ವರ್ಷ ಏಕೆ ಕಷ್ಟಪಡಬೇಕಿತ್ತು? ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರ ಎಂದಕೂಡಲೇ ಏಕೆ ಇವರಿಗೆ ಬರೀ ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರೇ ಏಕೆ ನೆನಪಾಗುತ್ತಾರೆ? ಸ್ವಂತ ನೆಲದಲ್ಲೇ ನಿರಾಶ್ರಿತರಾಗಿರುವ 7 ಲಕ್ಷ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರಿ ಪಂಡಿತರು, 60 ಸಾವಿರ ಸಿಖ್ಖರು, ಲದ್ದಾಕ್‌ನ ಬೌದ್ಧಧರ್ಮೀಯರು ಕೂಡ ಕಾಶ್ಮೀರಿಗರೇ ಎಂದು ಏಕನಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ? ಇವರ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯವನ್ನು ಏಕೆ ಯಾರೂ ಕೇಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ? ಮುಸ್ಲಿಮರು ಬಹುಸಂಖ್ಯಾತರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬ ಏಕಮಾತ್ರ ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ವಾತಂತ್ರ್ಯ ಕೊಟ್ಟುಬಿಡಬೇಕು, ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಡಬೇಕು ಎನ್ನುವುದಾದರೆ ಮುಂದೊಂದು ದಿನ ಕೇರಳದ ಮಲ್ಲಪ್ಪುರಂ, ಕಾಸರಗೋಡು, ಗುಲ್ಬರ್ಗಾ, ಮಂಗಳೂರು, ಹೈದರಾಬಾದ್ ಮುಂತಾದ ದೇಶದ ಇತರ ಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕತೆಯ ಕೂಗೇಳಬಹುದು.

If you had not heard of Narayanan Krishnan, as I had not, it is a collective failure. This is one of the most incredible stories of personal commitment.
Narayanan Krishnan, all of 29 years old now, does what he was professionally trained to do as a chef. Feed people. Only Krishnan does not do this in the swanky confines of a 5-star hotel. Every day, he wakes up at 4 am, cooks a simple hot meal and then, along with his team, loads it in a van and travels about 200 km feeding the homeless in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
Krishnan feeds, often with his hands, almost 400 destitute people every day. And for those who need it, he provides a free haircut too.
According to CNN, eight years ago, this award-winning chef with a five-star hotel chain was all set to go to Switzerland for a high-profile posting. On a visit to a Madurai temple, he came across a homeless, old man eating his own human waste. That stark sight changed Krishnan’s life.
Much to the dismay of his parents, CNN says, Krishnan abandoned his career plans and decided to spend his life and his professional training in looking after those who could not care for themselves. He has provided more than 1.2 million hot meals through his nonprofit organization Akshaya Trust, and now hopes to extend this to shelter for the homeless too.
Krishnan is the only Indian in a list of 10 heroes that CNN has picked worldwide to honor. One of them will be chosen CNN Hero of the Year, selected by the public through an online poll. If many Indians get together to vote for this inspiring man, he can win by a long mile.
If Krishnan wins he will get $100,000 in addition to the $25,000 that he gets for being shortlisted for the Top 10. Akshaya Trust needs all the monetary support it can get to build on Krishnan’s dream. Let’s help him get there.
